Summary

Love struck me at the early age of five. The boy turned into a man, and I fell even deeper. Guy Webb had no idea my fragile heart belonged to him for so many years. He was too busy being my brother’s best friend and a star on the football field. He was my daydream and consumed every single thought, but he was always one step from my reach.

Beartooth Ranch was our home. The rich ranch land raised us, fostered our laughs and losses, and even gained a new family member when Guy moved in for his sophomore year of high school.

I hid my love for years. But now he’s back. Guy Webb returned a broken soldier after serving his country all over the atlas. And now it’s my job to help him heal.

My family lost everything with his return, and I can only hope I survive it.

My Thoughts on Royal Atlas

For a first book by this author for me, I must say it was really good.

The storyline, characters, the romance... It was all good.

It's a really emotional story. Some moments a little too much so for me. I'm conflicted as I write this review because while I know it was well written, and I can see why people love this author's work so much, I personally was a little put off by the ending. I'll just say it was a little reminiscent of an extremely popular story that had a beginning that made me sad, a middle that was really good, but an ending that had me vowing to never watch or read it again. And I haven't. Because every time I think about the ending, it completely puts me off.

So while I feel like I loved Molly and Guy, there was just a little too much realism in the end of their story that I don't particularly enjoy in my romance.

The narrators however did a fantastic job. I don't know what it is about Lacy Laurel's voice, but I feel like she pulls off country and cowgirl so well. I'm also really impressed with her voice for the male parts. She was able to give them a good distinction. But I really liked her voice for the leading man. Jeremy York had a gentle quality to his narration on this story that I think paired well with Guy.

Overall the narration was perfection, and the story was good. It's just not one that could be a repeat for me.

What a beautiful story!

Its a story of young love, best friends, family, war, heartache, healing and love. So many emotions listening to Royal Atlas. The location: a ranch. The chracters are all so great and Molly and Guy's love is epic and the author shows us years after they get together, their won kids. It's really beautiful to listen to... I ugly cried at the end.

More of a family story than a romance.

Sweet story which spans the entire life of the main characters and some secondary characters from childhood to senior years.

LOVED IT!

Audiobook review. LOVED this story. Couldn’t have had a better introduction to a ‘new to me’ author. The tale was beautifully crafted with a plot that really held my attention consistently. At 5 hr 50 min it’s on the shorter side yet it manages to use the page/air space extremely well.

The main characters, Guy and Molly, were complex and flawed. They had huge hearts that were made for one another. I loved how they developed their feelings and that Guy especially didn’t play any emotional games. They had quite a few challenges to overcome and the journey was more than worth it.

I cried. I laughed. My heart was full. I cried again. I am looking forward to the next story even though I fully expect to bawl my eyes out. 😭

The narrators, Lacy Laurel and Jeremy York, did a wonderful job. The pace, tone, and pitch were on point. The voices matches and transitioned between genders well.

Royal Atlas

I've read a few HJ Bellus books and they all seems to have a whole lot of heartache and a whole lot of love. This book wasn't any different. Molly and Guy grew up together. Molly's older brother was Guy's best friend. When Guy & Amos went off to the military together, only Guy came home, and the entire family including Guy had to learn to live again. There were a roller coaster ride of emotions, but I would read it over and over again. Their love was so solid, from childhood, and the love from their family made it that much better.

The audio for this was solid. Such a great performance by Lacy Laurel and Jeremy York.

Two words. Big. Cry.

Bring the tissues! This book is one big emotional roller coaster! Only one other book has ever made me cry like this one did. This book could possibly have some triggers (war related).

Very well written and preformed very well! I am a big horse person and usually can’t listen to books about horses because the terminology and most everything else horse related, is wrong. This one wasn’t bad at all, just a few little things, but overall, it didn’t bother me.

Heartbreakingly sweet

Warning: this book will make you ugly cry! It is so beautiful and so touching but has parts that will bring you to your knees. Being able to see the main couple and their family go full circle was absolutely amazing!

The narration was fantastic! The way Lacy brought out all of the emotions in her voice was amazing! I'm fairly certain hearing the crying in her voice made me cry!

Warm country romance

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I really loved the writers style. The story is about family, loss and true love that never dies and carries on in each generation. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but if you like stories that really touch your emotions, you will love this audiobook. Narration was well done.

Beautiful and emotional story

Most of the initial story, first 2 hours easily was with Lacy Laurel. She does a good job narrating both Guy and Molly’s voices and even Amos, three of the main characters in the beginning of the book. Jeremy York comes in after a couple of hours and he was excellent as well. This was a well narrated story and full of emotion.

I started the book and during the prologue realized that it is going to be a tear jerker. It is likely going to be a bittersweet story, given the book starts off with the heroine of the book dying from sickness and old age. They hint at the epic and unrivaled love of the heroine, Molly and her Guy. Uh oh- shades of the Notebook, anyone??

The book spans years (although quickly), from when Molly is 5 years old and first finds herself in love with Guy to obviously, her deathbed. Guy is best friends to Molly’s brother, Amos, and has always been highly protective of her. Throughout the story, there’s so much loss so, yep, tear jerker. There were some moments of levity (the Amos sayings at the beginning of each chapter are hilarious) and overall, it was well balanced emotionally. Guy and Molly were wonderful together and Molly was an especially strong character, as she had to help Guy overcome PTSD because he and Amos went into the military.

Royal Atlas is the horse that helps Guy get better after going to war, although, of course, the true meaning is deeper than that. This is a great book, very beautifully written and emotional.

Heart Felt!!

This was my introduction to HJ Bellus' work. Where to begin. I loved the way this story was written, going between present and past. The author takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride. It gave me all the feels...I laughed & cried! I absolutely recommend this story.

The narration by Lacy Laurel and Jeremy York was just amazing bringing these characters to life!

Great Read

Royal Atlas: Royal Love, Book One was a great read by HJ Bellus. Molly has been in love with her brothers best friend, Guy, since she was five years old. She loved him even though he always felt out of her reach. She always hid her love for him until he returned from war as a broken soldier and she wanted to make him better. I absolutely loved reading Guy and Molly's story and can't wait to read more by HJ Bellus. Lacy Laurel and Jeremy York did a great job of narrating the story and providing life for these characters. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

What a love story!

I was either smiling or crying!

She loved him since she was a kid. He grew up as a part of their family, and he fell in love with her too. But then a tragedy happened and the whole family had to heal, some more than others!

The narration was really great, it was like the story told just for you!

Emotional

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to from this author and I thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Bellus style of writing.

This is an emotional story that will tug at your heart strings and I freely admit to ugly crying whilst listening to this book.

Royal Atlas is a story of family, of love that spans generations and was heartwarming and gut wrenching at the same time.

Guy and Molly have been together for decades, their love has stood the test of time and nothing will seperate them. Their connection is soul deep and their story is one of highs and lows.

The narration from Lacey Laurel and Jeremy York was spot on and enhanced my listening pleasure.
