Summary

Some legends are better left untold.

I wasn’t the sort of girl who believed in fairy tales, let alone tales about faeries. But that changed the day faeries came to my small town and hunters rose from their graves.

On that fateful day, I received a book, a peculiar collection of myths and legends. Turns out it was so much more than stories. And just as I was on the verge of unlocking its secrets, it was stolen from me by someone I called a friend.

Now, I don’t know whom I can turn to, whom I can trust. All I know is that there are two sides, and I am straddling the great divide because I am both faerie and hunter. And although I swore I would never choose, I am slowly falling for one of those sides....

Fans of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series will adore Wildenstein's Lost Clan series.

Binge worthy!

This is becoming one of my favorite new series. The world building and characters are refreshing and complex. The narrator did a great job with preforming the different characters. I was so hooked from page one. This series is so binge worthy. I’ve got to start book three as soon as I finish typing this review. I plan to keep this author on my must buy list! It’s like vampire diaries and true blood got together and made spin offs, without the vampires. Although I wouldn’t be opposed if one showed up, just saying. If you love Karen Marie Moning, you’ll love this author and series too.

Terrible narration

I really loved the first book, I was so excited and got the next one right away. I am so disappointed by the narration. No difference in characters voices and stumbling and pausing randomly makes it hard to follow. I havent got that far, I haven't decided if I'm going to even try to finish it yet. I had to just stop because I was getting frustrated. But unfortunately it's put me right off trying right now. I'm sure the story is as good as the first book, so I will not fault that at all. But I wish they'd stuck with the original narrator.

Good story HORRIBLE narration

The story is good but I feel as though I would have liked it more had they stayed with the narrator from the first book. The narrator for this book made it difficult to follow and enjoy. She did not change her voice to differentiate between characters so it was hard to know whom was speaking and she sounds so fake, it’s like she is reading from a book rather than a character. I know, I know she actually is reading from a book but I never listened to an audiobook where it actually sounds like it. An audiobook is supposed to take you away into the characters world, which she does not do well. The quality of the audio is also not very well done. You can hear her breathing and the audio switching on and off when she pauses and in between chapters. Very disappointed because I think I would have liked the story better had I read it (which I don’t have time to do) or if read by the narrator in the first book. I really enjoyed and became interested after listening to the first book, this one not so much.

Great Book! Crap Narrator.

This is a really great book but the narrator is horrible. She doesnt stay consistent with how her predecessor read ,and while I know that everyone has a different style ,and way of working; it makes me think she didnt even familiarize herself with the previous book. So the voice style of Cat aunt is different and so is her father, her friends, everything. And to top it off the Narrator sounds winded the whole time she is reading. So in short if you want to continue the story with Cat, her family, and all her friends; buy the book from the Kindle Store and read it. You will be way more satisfied and can continue to read in the same voices as you have become accustomed to.

(P.S: I really hated saying all this negative stuff about the books narrator but I couldn't in good conscience let it good un-noted.)

Excitement

Narrator Andrew Kincaid has done a wonderful job on this story. Having read the book before listening on audible she has brought to life the characters that I had fell in love with. The story is amazing . Great world building by Olivia Wildenstein and wonderful characters.

I couldn’t get past the first chapter

I loved the first book in this series. Unfortunately, i found the audio and reader for this second book to be poor. The reader had no energy and clipped the words. You could also hear the breaths with each word. I am going to try reading this book to see if it gets better.

Nope :(

I read and listened to the first book in this series and enjoyed both the story and the audiobook performance. I couldn’t finish listening to this one. It was choppy, and sounded very unrehearsed which made it hard to follow along with the plot, so I don’t even know if I liked the story.

Love the story buuuuttt...

Where did the narrator for book one go? I pushed through this book because I wanted to “read” this book. But the narration was horrible. Book one narrator had sooo much more to give. I found it hard to figure out who was speaking and the chuckles and little “noises” she threw in where so awkward. It was as if she hadn’t read the book before recording so she wasn’t sure where to start and stop....

Storyline was good though. Dragged in a few spots but I overall enjoyed it. On to book three!!!

Wish it was the same Narrator as the first...

I really enjoyed the first book of the series! But I can’t listen to the storyline itself with this one...

Narrator is awful

This narrator is so terrible that she unfortunately ruined the book. She can barely get a sentence out without having to just breathe the last word instead of saying it because she ran out of breath. She doesn’t change her voice for characters and she tries to make every sentence sound weirdly sassy as if that’s her only trick.

The story itself isn’t great. The author spends most sentences just summarizing things from the previous book or restating things over and over again. The plot just moves so slowly and it feels like nothing happens.
