Waste of time
This book is closer to a romantic comedy than a spy thriller. The author apparently knows little about the spy genre. Having CIA agents work in US without even discussing this as an issue is silly. Agents act more like high schoolers than CIA agents. Thought I would try a new author and could not finish the book. Ugh!

All good!
This is actually a quick review for the entire series. Love the story, characters and performance. The narration was equal to, or maybe even a little better than the actual book. Kudos on getting a proper reader (unlike in The Cain series). I will finish off Ryan's published works and maybe he'll have another one off by the time I have read/listened to A Dangerous Man. Great work.

Different type of action spy novel--Recommended
I enjoyed and I plan to do to us the series. The Audible narrator was new to me. She's really very good. I'll look for her work in the future.
I can't give 5 full stars because it's not an epic classic and I can't speak about editing and that type of thing because I have not seen the print or or Kindle versions. I wish there were a 4.5, because it's a great listen!

Failing a female lead
Honestly, I came here on the back of J o'donnell 's voice. I really like how she carried Jessica Blackwell, and wanted to see how she carried any other stories. This was one of the few that wasn't supposed to be mostly romantic. I'm Almost halfway and I'm ready to give up on it.
That said, it struggles as an action or spy story. As another reviewer here mentioned, it does kind of read like a high school drama.
Some honest criticism. The narrative is being told from a female perspective, but her story is not written like she's telling a story. It's still more about how she's viewed instead of what she does. Best I can say is that it feels sleazy. It's a Hallmark movie, but a spy instead of a corporate boss. And it's still a nerdy man's power fantasy.
