Summary

When firefighter and single dad Steve Springfield moved his four kids to a Colorado Christmas tree ranch, he intended for it to be a safe haven. But he never expected danger to follow them to his childhood home...or that he would come face-to-face with the one girl he could never forget.

Folk artist Camille Brandt lives a quiet life. As the town's resident eccentric, she's used to being lonely - until Steve "freaking" Springfield changes everything. Brave and kind, he's always had a piece of her heart, and it doesn't take long before she's in danger of falling for him and his rambunctious kids.

But as mysterious fires break out across the sleepy Colorado town, Steve and Camille will have to fight if they want their happy family to survive until Christmas....

Contains mature themes.

Another Katie Ruggle gem

Don't let the dodgy title put you off! This is a lovely, entertaining book full of the wonderful characters Katie Ruggle creates so well. It's warm, funny, cringe worthy and joyful. Great read.

Narrator was bad!

The narrator ruined the book for me. The storyline was so predictable and simple. I would not recommend this. I usually love Katie Ruggle's stories.

Good story

At times I wanted to fast forward only because the author stagnated in parts. It would go over and over saying the same thing and not move forward. But I stuck with it because it is a good story and I wanted to see what happened at the end. I would have given it 5 stars but the fact that a couple times I found myself saying "just do it!" I couldn't. That said I did like the book and if you can stick with it it's a good story.

The narrator ruined the story

Katie Ruggle is one of my favorite authors, but this narrator just ruined the story.

What a waste!

Warm-hearted story with a little suspense

A nice warm-hearted story for Christmas that includes a side of suspense. The primary characters were truly some of Katie Ruggles' most easily identifiable/realistic. Their inner conflict and dialogues added true dimension to the story. Loved the kids in this but, wow, all are really good and highly intelligent? That's a really good parent dream come true. ;-)
A good Christmas story to read.

The ending ruined the story

spoiler. I can't believe the ending this author went with. Basically let a stalker/arsonist/possible murderer go. I enjoyed the story but the end was too unbelievable and unsatisfying. First book I've read by this author, probably the last.

not impressed

my 3rd book by this author, and I'm still not sure if I like her stuff or not. In this one, too much inner rambling in urgent situations, causes the story timing to be wrong. The narrators used in each could be much better. I may need to read something by her rather than listen.

Finally Steve gets the girl

I have been listening to several of Katie Ruggle’s books and have loved them all but I couldn’t wait to listen to the one with Steve and his children. When you add an eccentric woman with a handsome firefighter with 4 children you are bound to have trouble. This book was a very good listen and keep me from wanting to stop listening.

Way over written

There is details when there doesn’t need to be and plot points that are weakly string together The characters were a bit to all over the place A few plot points were a bit far fetched without framework to support them
