Story
Leveling up would be amazing...if it weren't so deadly. They injected me with a VR chip, a GPS tracker, and my first Seed. They gave me unbelievable powers. Then they sent me to fight. The monsters here are alien and vicious. There is a second moon in the sky. I watched a tree start moving and kill someone. And the other Players? They're even worse. I’m alone. I’m weak. And I’m scared. But I will cling to life by the tips of my bloody fingernails. Who is behind this twisted game? If I want to survive, I have to get stronger. But can I do it before the Game kills me?

Story
It was hailed as the answer to the obesity epidemic; a pill that allows you to eat anything you like and still lose weight. Millions were attracted by the promise of a leaner, fitter body, but there was a fatal and unforeseen flaw in this new panacea. A tiny microbe, lurking within, slowly infects the users. In turn they pass the infection to others with a sneeze, a cough or a simple kiss, and before long tens of millions are infected and turned into mindless, shambling wrecks, with the sole purpose of existing to eat.

The last thing the factfinders - who call themselves Life - expected to find while traveling in space in The Curious on a mission from their planet, The Living World, was other life. Excellent storytelling of a lively yarn
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Depends entirely on the friend.
If it's someone who enjoys a good yarn, but isn't overly bothered by the occasional plot hole and dodgy science, then yes. Certainly the tale is told well, with the narration being rich in character and quite engaging.
If you’ve listened to books by E. J. Robinson before, how does this one compare?
I have not.
What does Malk Williams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Malk Williams provides a fine range of characterisation; the characters each had easily identifiable voices, and the tale in general was told with an engaging level of expression and pace.
Initially - the draw of an Audiobook was the opportunity to use this as 'travel entertainment' with my family while travelling north to Scotland.
That said - I am someone who likes fairly hard science in his SF, so I'm not really the target audience for this book... indeed if it hadn't been an audio-book that I could stick on 'in the background' while driving, I probably would quite probably have abandoned this book part way through.
So - what Malk 'brought to the story' for me was a relatively painless way to get to the end of the tale and find out 'what happens'.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
"As stirring tale of survival in a dystopian post apocalyptic future filled with mutants and savage tribes"
With a footnote of:
"Warning - may not contain believable science"
Any additional comments?
Fairly stock science fantasy.

Loved it!
What did you like most about Robinson Crusoe 2244?
This book was great! It's been many years since I've read the original Robinson Crusoe and I don't remember much about it so I'm not sure of the similarities. I'd see if I could find an audio version of it, but after listening to this I'm afraid I'd probably not enjoy the original as much! lol This is definitely worth listening to! Great performance by Malk Williams as well!

Why write a book when you can just write a script?
If you are someone who loves summer blockbuster action movies, you will love this book. If you are someone who likes well-written literature, then perhaps you should avoid the book. It reads more like a script from a movie than a book. Character development, realistic world building and believable plotting is all sacrificed for action and fast fast pacing. It's enjoyable and not too badly written at first, but gets worse and worse as you realize you don't really know anything about the characters or their environment. The ending is particularly bad and rivals most movies in terms of wrapping things up in unrealistic and incomprehensible ways. I honestly can't understand where all the good reviews come from. There are many people who will like this book. It's just most of them don't actually read books.

A Great Story! And Well Read!
If you could sum up Robinson Crusoe 2244 in three words, what would they be?
Inventive. Clever. Compelling.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Crusoe was my favorite character. Very likable guy and I really liked the way he evolves from a fairly naive kid at the beginning of the story to a very capable Aserra warrior by the end.
What about Malk Williams’s performance did you like?
I liked the way the he used his voice to give a distinct identity to each character while at the same time executing a very fluid reading.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes for sure. I had read the book before but I listened to the audio book in the car with my kids as it is a great story for the whole family. They loved it too!
Any additional comments?
EJ Robinson shows a ton of promise as a writer. I anxiously await the sequel. I hope he chooses Malk Williams to read the next on as weel as Mr. Williams really brings the book to life!

Why isn't the sequel in Audible???
Any additional comments?
This was an absolutely great book. At Amazon, you can see that there is a sequel, which is getting rave reviews, and said to be better than this one. Where is it??? I never read books anymore. There is just too much to do to sit and keep your eyes focused on a piece of paper. Audiobooks rule.

An honest voice
What did you love best about Robinson Crusoe 2244?
Yes, It was compelling. I loved seeing the story through the boy's eyes.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the honest voice the author was able to convey of the little boy struggling to understand a grown up world. My children were also compelled to hear what was going to happen next. E. J. Robinson's use of details painted an articulate picture of an oppressive world transformed.
What does Malk Williams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Mark Williams gave an authenticity to the story. My children loved Mark's talented use of different voices.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I am a mother of young children so I don't get to do much in one setting!
Any additional comments?
I look forward to reading/ hearing more from E.J. Robinson.

Robinson Crusoe
Any additional comments?
One of the thing about this audio book is that it’is loaded with mch action. Once the plot startes it does not stop with lot of twists and turns. This book does a good job of layering in things early and having them pay off at the end.

Enjoyed the whole story
What made the experience of listening to Robinson Crusoe 2244 the most enjoyable?
I really enjoyed listening to this book. The premise was creative for this reinvention of a classic story. The character development was very good and I enjoyed the post-apocalyptic choices in the narrative. I would not hesitate to recommend this book.

Better than expected
"This audiobook was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review via AudiobookBlast dot com."
This book is about a possible future world. It does have a zombie type theme to it but doesn’t call the monsters zombies. The story is more about social classes and leadership. Over all it was a very good book but there were more than a few times I was wondering what the heck is going on and if I missed something. It will be interesting to see where the second book takes us. I would recommend this book if you like adventure stories

I love science fiction but I was really hoping this would be more about a survival story as the original Robinson Crusoe was I would say about three chapters of the 50-plus chapters really delve into that however I was captivated by the story for the most part not sure if I would recommend it for everyone

Robinson Crusoe meets I am legend in the distant future
Good story with decent characters. A little shallow at times but still enjoyable. I enjoyed the parallels with the original story without feeling like it was cliche. Wish it was a little longer and delved deeper into the characters but perhaps in the next book. Would recommend especially for the price.
