Grady is the brooding musician with a past. Maggie is the tough, smart mayor with a broken heart she doesn’t show anyone. Put them back in the same town, add a mayoral race and years of baggage = FIRE 🔥
I loved how real and layered their relationship felt. It wasn’t just banter and chemistry (although yes, there’s plenty of that 😏), but also deep emotional stakes. Wendy Million really gets how to write flawed, lovable characters.
🎧 As for the narration—Charlotte North nailed Maggie’s strength and vulnerability, and Corvin King’s voice? Literally melted me. Their voices together? Instant spark.

Both narrators did an amazing job with this dual style narration. It was easy to get lost in the story with how well they differentiated characters, voices, and personalities. If you are on the fence about which format to consume this book, I definitely recommend catching this one in audio.

Overall Thoughts: This is my first book by W. Million, and I originally requested the ALC because of Corvin being the male narrator, but this book had a devious side I wasn’t expecting. The enemies to lovers trope played really well in the book and kept it interesting the whole time. The side characters were amazing, and added to the book in a fun, unexpected way. There’s lots of subtle action, and there was never a boring moment which kept me on my toes. Charlotte did an amazing job as Maggie giving a bright performance that kept the book light, while Corvin was delightful as Grady, giving a raw edge to this small town romance

Maggie is running uncontested for mayor of her small, home town, that is until Grady returns with his sights set on making Maggie pay for what happened to his brother. Even with the animosity the two have for each other, they keep being pulled towards one another.
When Grady’s brother comes back into his life, there appears to be no love lost between the brothers, but Grady wants to have a relationship with him, but knows it won’t happen unless he can figure out what really happened all those years ago.
Can Maggie and Grady overcome the past, or will they end before they even have a chance at a happily ever after?
