About this listen

Eva and Rafe's story continues in this emotional, angsty, rockstar romance from the best-selling author of The Rixon Raiders series.

Eighteen-year-old Eva Walker knew going on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat would be complicated.

She didn’t expect to find herself torn between two brothers.

One wants her but he walked away before.

The other needs her but she doesn’t understand why.

It’s only time before the truth comes out, and when it does, nothing will be the same for Country’s newest sweetheart and the black-hearted boys of Rock.

Rise: The Interlude is the second installment of Eva and Rafe's story. The concluding book Rule: The Finale is coming soon!

Wow. Just. Crikey I live these characters so much. This book has taken me through all the emotions and I really feel for the characters. They make me want to hug them and make it all better. I've loved watching them, what they're getting up to and how they're coping with the situations. Michael Norman Johnson and Sarah Puckett do a fabulous job with the narration, really adding nuance to the story. I need to know what happens next!!!

Just love these characters!

Rafe thought he was making the right decision when he ended his relationship with Eva but now that she is coming on tour with them things are about to get very complicated.

Eva may be nervous and feeling out of her depth when it comes to performing on stage, but those feelings don’t compare to the uncertainty she feels towards the two brothers. One brother wants nothing to do with her while the other brother is doing his best to become close to her. Is there any way for this to end other than in disaster?

Rafe and Eva’s journey is filled with so much emotion and angst. We learn so much about all the characters and their motivations which leaves us wondering what the future holds for the band. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and thought the narrators did a great job of bringing the story to life. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession

I liked the first book in this series. but I loved Rise: The Interlude which sees Eva going on tour with Black Hearts Still Beat in order to remove the financial situation that her parents are in due to her cancer treatment.
This means that She has to see Rafe while trying to recover from the heartbreak that he caused. There is an element of will they won't they which is even more confused by Levi. Rafe's brothers growing bond with Eva, and the delicate balance that everyone walks to try and keep Levi stable.
We get to see different sides of the band and get to know some new characters that enrich the story.
The narration by Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson, was outstanding that I cannot fault and the singing was a perfect addition to the story.
The incredible writing and the fantastic narration really made for a wonderful listening experience.

First of all I love the audio for book! I loved the surprise singing and I loved how much more I loved the book listening to it a second time!

Book 2 just wow that ending. I loved this whole book getting to know the band better and I love them all. I hope they all get a book in end. Especially Hudson and Molly they need a happy ending. Poor Levi but I just love Rafe so much. He so right for Eva and their connection is so strong. I can’t wait to see how their story ends and what happens to the Band. I hope Levi sorts himself out and start being a big brother to Rafe. Loved the dynamic of country and Rock!

Wow the singing!

Eva has been given an opportunity that will change her life. She's been invited to go on tour with one of the most popular rock bands. The record label is convinced that her presence will improve the evergrowing horrible reputation of the band. If that wasn't overwhelming enough, she finds herself caught in between the attentions of two brothers. One of whom has captured her heart despite her hesitations. The other who she feels a protective nature for that she would do anything to help him get better.
I enjoyed this book quite a lot. Even if it was a little cringy at times. Maybe even predictable at times. Those aren't complaints. Not all books are meant to be smooth and full of surprises. Some of them are supposed to be straightforward and frustrating. I hope this is making sense. There were times I would have probably smacked the characters if I was in the story. They were being so angsty and frustrating! Especially Eva and Rafe. They should have taken like five seconds to listen to the advice of those around them! Wouldn't make them normal characters though.
This book was narrated by both Michael Norman Johnson and Sarah Puckett. Sarah Puckett is one of my favorite narrators of all time. I just can't even begin to explain how much I love her narrations. It's been a while since I've listened to a book narrated by her. This is the first book I've listened to by Mikael Norman Johnson. I believe I saw him talking on a live chat on Facebook a long time ago. I'm not sure. It was a nice talk. I felt like he would be a great narrator. I was not wrong. I will definitely be picking up other books narrated by him.
This book was fun and full of life. I feel like there should have been more to it, but it was enjoyable all the same. Both narrators actually sang during the singing parts! It was AMAZING! It gave the audiobook a very authentic flair. Any book read is like you're a part of the story. However, when narrators do things like this it just amplifies that feeling. When they let their emotions come through in the narration, it enhances it too. I read and loved the first book of this and I can't wait to read the last book!
