Summary

A nice, normal life. Is that too much to ask? For Riley Thorn it is.

Divorced. Broke. Living with a pack of elderly roommates. And those hallucinations she’s diligently ignoring? Her tarot card-dealing mom is convinced they’re clairvoyant visions.

Just when things can’t get worse, a so-hot-it-should-be-illegal private investigator shows up on her doorstep looking for a neighbor...who turns up murdered.

Nick Santiago doesn’t play well with others. Unless the “others” are of the female persuasion. Wink. He’s a rebel, a black sheep, a man who prefers a buffet of options to being stuck with the same entrée every night, if you catch his drift.

When the pretty, possibly psychic Riley lands at the top of the list of suspects, Nick volunteers to find out whodunit. Only because he likes solving mysteries not because he wants to flex his heroic muscles for the damsel in distress.

All they have to do is figure out who pulled the trigger, keep the by-the-book detective with a grudge at bay, and deal with a stranger claiming he was sent to help Riley hone her psychic gifts. All before the killer discovers she’s a loose end that requires snipping.

Superb

So I don’t love ALL of Lucy Score’s books, because they CAN be a bit slow. But the ones I liked, I LOVE. She writes romance about adults who act like adults, ever the relationships grow out of the individuals’ growth that becomes a natural flow into the couple. This book is, by far, my favorite. It’s definitely going into my all time favorites. So much fun, love the couple, love all the cooky side characters. I really, REALLY hope she makes it into a series of delightful psychic crime solving fun and romance!

Funny read

Great narration. I would have rather had a duet, but still great.
This isn’t a typical Lucy Score book, but that’s one of the many reasons I love her writing. She has such a variety of styles and tropes. She has something for everyone. This was kind of a return to the humor that’s closer to the Blue Moon series, but not exactly. I think fans of the Stephanie Plum series (like me) will love this one. It’s RomCom with a side of suspense, or suspense with a side of RomCom. I laughed so many times while trying to solve the mystery.

Nick and Riley are such a fun duo with lots of chemistry. The reluctant psychic bit was the perfect addition to the storyline. The P.I. business was a great outlet for everything. So many things could happen for any future books. Hint, hint. As always there’s plenty of witty banter and shenanigans. Riley has the best neighbors. I might want to be Mrs Penny when I grow up. I’m not going to tell who did it. You’ll have to read it yourself to find out. I would have preferred less of a slow burn and more bedroom time.

Lots of Fun!

I enjoyed this book about a family of psychics and murder. The characters were hilarious and eccentric, the story line held my attention throughout the entire book and the romance was sweet. The ending was good and it left an opening for another book, I hope. Nathalie Duke was exceptional as the narrator and I hung on her every word. This was a long audio book and I loved, it's well worth a credit.

Versatile narration

Incredible story full of laughs and vivid descriptions. I was able to visualize the story as I listened. The narrator was suburb. Her number of voices was just fantastic and added to the enjoyment of the story. I can’t wait for the sequel.
