Summary

Book three in the heartwarming Lancashire-based Gibson series by beloved saga author Anna Jacobs.

It's 1848, and preparations are underway for Annie Gibson's wedding to Bilsden's wealthy millowner, Frederick Hallam. But not everyone is as pleased as they are.

Frederick's daughter, Beatrice, is horrified at the prospect of a new attractive stepmother arriving at the house on Ridge Hill. Even Annie's own family feels threatened. The only person who seems pleased is Tom, Annie's brother.

Soon, however, real troubles begin to pile up for the Gibsons. Tom's happiness is jeopardised by the news that he is father to a child he never knew about. Annie's son, William, is devastated to find out that his real father is not the man who brought him up. And even Annie's joy cannot last. Because someone has uncovered the secrets she has fought so hard to keep hidden....

Very good overall

I absolutely loved this 3rd installment in the Gibson saga, however I must say that there was an error by the author that really bugged me several times throughout the book. in the 2nd book 'Ridge Hill' Cathy and John named their first born child Philip John, and in the 3rd book his name became Samuel John. I believe continuity is very important especially when writing a saga spread over several books.
Anne Dover was incredible as always.

Excellent !!!

Book 3 in the series and so the story continues. Having already listened to book 1 & 2 this book has not disappointed. Absolutely fabulous story of the Gibson’s, Hallam’s, Dalton and Lewis’s and how their lives entwine. Riveting, find it hard to leave listening to it. Fabulous narrator in Anne Dover, what more could anyone wish for !!!!

Brilliant

From the beginning to the end I couldn’t stop listening to this wonderful story - so very sad in places but a marvellous story and lovely ending. Anna Jacobs is a brilliant writer and Anne Dover always read her books so very well.

All Excellent!

I am on the fourth book of the Anna jacabs saga. I do and don't want to read the fith and last book, as it is read by someone else.
you get used to the voices and these will be different! I got so used to Anne Dover narrating
all the characters, I'm not sure if I want to hear them in completely different voices.
Anne has such a beautiful ❤️
reading voice, but I am not saying that the other person doesn't because I have not heard her.
