Summary

Wren Ballard is trying to find herself.

She never expected to be divorced at 27, but now that the court date has passed, it's official. The paperwork is final. Her feelings on it aren't.

Spending the summer in a small mountain town outside Seattle is exactly what she needs. The peaceful scenery is a given, the cat with the croaky meow is a surprise, but the real kicker? A broody neighbor with nice arms, a strange reputation, and absolutely no interest in her.

Anderson Black is perfectly fine being lost. He doesn't care about the town's new resident - he's too busy fighting his own demons. But when he's brought face to face with Wren, he can see her still-fresh wounds from a mile away. What he doesn't see coming is his need to know who put them there - or his desperation to mend them.

Sometimes getting lost is the way to find yourself. Sometimes healing only adds a new scar. And sometimes the last place you expected to be is exactly where you find home.

Contains mature themes.

First I have to say I LOVE THIS COVER!! Every time I seen it I wanted to know this story!

This book was good, nothing specific stood out for me but It still left me with a heart warming feeling in the end. The characters were both troubled and they figured out how to heal together. It was sweet, the sex was hot and the drama wasn't off the charts (a good thing)! I loved the small town, where everyone knows everyone and they all watch out for each other! The narration was great too!

Saving each other...

This audiobook was by a new author to me and I really enjoyed it. The story is about a woman who is newly divorced and feeling kind of lost after years of her husband constantly trying to change her into what he wants. To clear her head and get her life on track, she rents a cabin in a small riverside community for a couple months. After meeting the friendly and somewhat eccentric neighbors, she meets a man who is a withdrawn loner. Something about each of them draws them to the other. Can they both find a way to trust and hope again? Narration was just great.

Finally, an enjoyable listen!

Good listens have been evasive for me lately. The story between Anderson and Wren was a feel good story. Two people who were trying to find their way through life. I don't want to give spoilers and the books introduction is a great synopsis. However, the journey of these two is a feel good story ... seemed real to life and leaves you routing for both of them and feeling good at the end.

My first by Kandi Steiner and will not be my last.

I read the blurb and it just called to me, and am so glad I did. This audiobook was just what I needed at this time since it had a great story with a theme that was very real, but it wasn't overly angsty. A great balance of emotion, chemistry and storytelling. The narration by Stephanie Rose & Joe Arden was spot on! I will definitely be diving into more of her audios.

Lovely read

Low key romance with the small town feel. Not as angst filled as I've come to expect from Ms. Steiner, but definitely worth a read.

A sweet romance story !

Loved the setting of this story and now it played so well into the characters’ interactions and differing lifestyles.

I adored the heroine and her ability to find her happiness within herself and share her light with those who truly wanted to see it. She brought a little piece of the city to the woods and changed those she interacted with for the better!

I thought the author did an incredible job creating two completely hollow people, for vastly different reasons but kept them so honest and genuine. I will say the ending didn’t wow me and I’d wished there was just a little more to grasp onto to leave me feeling satisfied.

A truly sweet story! It was emotional, heartwarming, sexy, funny and broken. A perfect mash up of characteristics for a fantastic romance read!

Narration was absolutely wonderful! The voices really brought the characters to life.

This is Crazy

This is one of the most shocking reads of the year for me and not in a good way. I love Kandi Steiner. I mean love! I think I have given everything she has written four or five stars. I have not been able to get into anything lately, so I thought reaching for this would do the trick. It was not. I am not really sure why, but I never connected with this story of Wren and Anderson. There was no development around their relationship initially to make me buy into it. Normally there is more build up with her characters. It was almost insta-lovey. Anderson just loved her right away after a five minute conversation. I just never truly devoured their story like I normally do with Kandi Steiner. I also felt like nothing happened. Anderson had a sad back story which I could see why others loved it. I wanted more around his past though. Wren being divorced just did not do it for me. Yes, her husband was a jerk but it was just not a back story that interested me. I have never DNF anything from this author, but there were so many times I wanted to put this down. The only reason I finished was due to the author herself and thinking this had to get better. I ended up skimming to get to the end anyway. I did like the musical references throughout though. I thought that was a fun detail. Overall, this was just not for me. I still highly recommend Kandi Steiner as she is one of my favorite authors.

Wren and Anderson

Narrators were fantastic but struggled to connect with the main characters. Nice enough book to listen to and would definitely try more of the authors work.
