Excellent story and characters and a good kick off to a new story arc. Interesting ideas behind where magic comes from.
Character voices are good, but found the main narration voice slightly off-putting although I got used to it eventually and it was still clear.
The author notes weren't read by the authors as in some of the other books in KGU but again the accent/voice used by Kate was much more pleasant than the main book.
The notes themselves were interesting and funny and a nice round out to the book although it does end with rather a lot of cliffhangers; definitely a part 1 of many type book. I like that these books are like a TV series with episodes and not too long to wait for the next one.
I have read and listened to the main KGU series but I may only read the rest of the series rather than listen to it, but I look forward to enjoying it regardless of the medium.

i love the core books and have tried some of the other collaborations but this was just brilliant:- the story/ the concepts & especially wordsmithshipnessity. i really want to see what comes next so i am stopping this review so i can start listening to the next book -just buy it 👍

the base books/story are great but this is better...

Book started slowly but soon it became fastpaced and really interesting. Lots magic and fantasy elements. Narration was good. Great author notes. Will have to take another look at them and maybe try more books written in same universe😄
