Summary

Disarmingly personal and intensely philosophical, Report to Greco is a fictionalized account of Greek philosopher and writer Nikos Kazantzakis’ own life, a sort of intellectual autobiography that leads listeners through his wide-ranging observations on everything from the Hegelian dialectic to the nature of human existence, all framed as a report to the Spanish Renaissance painter El Greco. The assuredness of Kazantzakis’s prose and the nimbleness of his thinking as he grapples with life’s essential questions - who are we, and how should we be in the world? - will inspire awe and more than a little reflection from listeners seeking to answer these questions for themselves.

Beautifully Written Book Superbly Narrated

Nikos Kazantzakis has always been one of those writers that completely blows my mind. Every time I have read something by him I have always been amazed at how thoughtful and immersive it is. The depth of feeling in his work is something that is truly rare. The man was a genius.
Report to Greco is a wonderful book recounting events from his life. It's not really an autobiography. He carefully selects key events and moments to recount in his typical style. Spirituality and his search for God is once again at the forefront.
Joshua Saxon is absolutely perfect for this type of book. His delivery is pitch perfect. He clearly understands and loves the material. There is genuine passion in his faultless reading.
Another classic from Crossroad Press.
Highly recommended.
