After looking over several renal diet plan cookboo

After looking over several renal diet plan cookbooks, I am so glad that I chose this one. All of the recipes I have tried so far (about 8) have been very good and easy to make. With the use of many fresh herbs for flavor, it can sometimes take more prep than I'd like, but that's just me. When the meal was completed, it was worth it.
The best thing about this book is her simple explanations of renal disease in layman's terms and stressing that diet is so important in combating CRD. Her words gave me hope and made me not so fearful of this diagnosis. For that, I am grateful to have found it.

I really like the way this book is set up with the

I really like the way this book is set up with the table of contents linked to each recipe making it easy to locate each one. Also in each recipe are links to other sections with directions and recipes on making individual ingredients like rubs, broth and seasoning combinations. I especially liked that chapter. The book also includes good information on understanding kidney disease and learning to cook with that in mind. I do wish the charts on the makeup of various foods was simpler. I just want a list of foods to definitely avoid and perhaps ones to indulge in now and then. Surely there are other candies to be had other than the hard tack variety, something gooey and chewy to satisfy that craving. I would definitely recommend this book to those who find themselves suddenly dealing with this disease.

Let me start by saying that I have never used Inst

Let me start by saying that I have never used Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.; I have strictly been a Facebook user. Being ‘old school’ and still referring to # as a pound sign and not a hashtag, this book was very intriguing and insightful to me. I love to learn, and this book is invaluable.

I have had small business endeavors in the past. I only used a website that I created to market my products or services. I wish I had this book then, but will make use of it now.

This workbook is mainly geared towards small businesses and entrepreneurs, but is useful for many other business formats. It helps to understand the social media craze and why/how to get in on this free form of advertising and marketing.

The table of contents is set up so that you can easily find the platform you want to start with or use, i.e. Content Marketing, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, to name a few. The author also makes himself available via email to answer student questions and requests feedback for updates to future editions. If you register your book with the link provided, the author also offers other ‘free’ tools, including a .pdf version of the workbook. This is useful to access the many hyperlinks throughout the book.

My husband is on dialysis and with the restriction

My husband is on dialysis and with the restrictions, it sometimes feels like you can't indulge in yummy foods. This book changes that! It's full of recipes, tips, and guidance to help you understand your diet, and keep it full of flavor. I personally fell in love with a cucumber salsa that was actually more like a ceviche - we look forward to making it in the summer for parties as it's delicious, something unexpected, and great for his health!

I really recommend this book to anyone with ESRD who is struggling with their diet; the recipes aren't challenging or over the top, but the taste of the few we have tried so far have been great and I think have really shown my husband that a renal diet can be full of easy, flavorful meals.

As a renal patient I'm constantly reminding myself

As a renal patient I'm constantly reminding myself to avoid phosphorus, sodium, potassium flare ups on my monthly blood test. I've struggled with phosphorus, but passed the last two blood tests once I started writing down everything I ate, and recording my intake of binders. This book contains some fine recipes and strategies for eating, but I avoid some of the foods the use. Shrimp, for example, is high phosphorus. I love it, but I avoid it. It's the same with cheese and beans. They used to be favorite foods, but now they're off my personal menu. I love soup, and can't wait to try some of her suggestions. The commercial stuff is too loaded with sodium. In any event, even though I'm not a foodie, I think this book is well worth the money. The biggest part of adapting to dialysis is the diet, and this book can help you avoid eating yourself to death.

The good: the recipes are easy to follow, varied, easy to prepare and don't require hard-to-get ingredients. The not-so-good: I purchased this book for someone who recently started dialysis. Both pre-dialysis and dialysis patients need to limit sodium, potassium and phosphorus in their diets, but there is one big difference. People with CKD, but not on dialysis, also need to cut down on protein, while people on dialysis need to do the opposite; they need to increase protein. The recommended serving sizes in the book are very small. For example, a meatloaf recipe calls for a pound of ground beef and, if the author is to be believed, serves 8. That's two ounces of meat per portion--actually, less, after the meat is cooked. That just isn't enough protein for people on dialysis, unless they are getting a lot of protein from other foods. Of course, portions can be doubled or tripled, but then sodium, potassium and phosphorus would also be doubled or tripled, unfortunately to levels that are higher than advisable. This is the case for many of the recipes in the book. For someone not on dialysis, this book would be a good resource. For the person on dialysis, not so much

I purchased this book when my a family member was

I purchased this book when my a family member was diagnosed with kidney failure and began dialysis. We knew nothing about a renal diet and this book is a must-have. The recipes are super easy and short with few ingredients and no complicated directions. Our family member had not done much cooking so it was very much appreciated. Each recipe includes number of calories and amounts of potassium, phosphorous, protein, sodium, fat, etc. The book starts out with clear and concise information regarding what bodily function each nutrient is needed for and the approximate range a person on dialysis should stay within which was extremely helpful. The book also includes a 28 day menu plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as snacks. The menus use the recipes in the book and include shopping lists for each week. For each day if you use the recipes and/or menus you just have to add the amounts listed at the end of the recipes to calculate the levels for each nutrient. There are even a number of seasoning mixes you can put together and have available for delicious and gourmet tasting culinary delights. So simple, yet very inexpensive!
