Summary
This is the eloquent account of Jarena Lee’s (b. 1783) religious experiences. After hearing a sermon by Richard Allen, founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she experienced a spiritual awakening. She began preaching in 1820 and became a travelling minister who traveled thousands of miles on foot throughout the North American continent.
