Summary

God designed men to be dangerous, says John Eldredge. Simply look at the dreams and desires written in the heart of every boy: to be a hero, to be a warrior, to live a life of adventure and risk.

Sadly, most men abandon those dreams and desires - aided by a Christianity that feels like nothing more than pressure to be a "nice guy." It is no wonder that many men avoid church, and those who go are often passive and bored to death.

In this provocative book, Eldredge gives women a look inside the true heart of a man and gives men permission to be what God designed them to be - dangerous, passionate, alive, and free.

Women need to listen to this too.

This could’ve saved my marriage had I found this earlier. I was dead inside because I supressed my true desires and fell into being the nice guy, the pushover , the wimp and ultimately felt unloved by the woman I loved because of it. She in turn felt that I wasn’t fighting for her and we both died inside feeling unloved by the other. This makes so much sense. I am striving to face my fears head on and become truly alive now. A great listen and benefit for both men and women!

Resonating Deep within the Masculine Soul

Listening to Wild At Heart was like taking a giant swig from a canteen on a mountaintop - a much needed relief, very deeply satisfying.

Very practical truths

There are some very good nuggets I took away from this book. So much so that I'll probably listen it again as I finished this in less than a day. Any man would find this book worthwhile and wives would as well.

Besides a few false doctrines it was fantastic!

There were a few gospel doctrines that were false, but the story and message were great and an almost perfect representation of real men and how we think and look at life.

Every man must read!

Every chapter was so true to my heart, I couldn't put it down. God created men to be warriors, dreamers, adventurers, protectors. We are not to be conformed to the standard of our society or our churches. Men need to re-evaluate what God's intentions were for us to be and go live it! This book gives you that permission!

excellent book

this book has been a big blessing in my life and something I am grateful for. it's helped me to understand what it is that I have been seeking from my father and what my son is seeking for me. last, it has helped me understand why I need to be the knight in shining armor to my wife

Powerful story that men need to hear!

Loved the overall message of the book that men need to not only become real men, but need to understand what a real man is. He gives powerful examples and hits some points that will cut deep for any man or any walk, realizing he can be a better husband, father, brother, son, etc... With all that said, he can be a little over-the-top at some points and stretch some theological points a bit further than I would. Takes a few liberties, but if you look at the book as a whole, it's great!
