Mesmerising journey through traditional stories
Where does Theatre of the Imagination, Volume 1 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is a wonderful listen, Clarissa's voice is wonderful to listen to and I will listen to this again. The stories and her commentary around them really kept me mesmerised. There is a lovely trail and connection between the stories which draws you through. And there is a wealth of sub-text and mythical imagery that means the stories are much more than just a few short stories.
Who was your favorite character and why?
This book has excited me about the power of story telling, archetypes and myth. There is a real clarity that comes from the way the stories are told and the connection they make with the listener. I will definitely be making further efforts to learn about story telling, archetypes and myth.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
The story telling skills of Clarissa draw you in quickly, in re-telling each story she uses atmospheric music and her wonderful tone of voice to weave compelling tales and give insights into their origin and meaning.
Each story has a message that touches the listener and brings mythical meaning to light.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Nothing

not quite bearable
Would you try another book written by Clarissa Pinkola Estes or narrated by Clarissa Pinkola Estes?
I've read Women Who Run With the Wolves - albeit years ago - and enjoyed it a great deal. However, although the author had a few interesting comments to make I found her voice and style absolutely unbearable. I had to turn it off completely when she started singing. This is a personal preference no doubt so I suggest potential purchasers sample before purchase.Purchasers do note that this isn't actually a book; there is a live audience and Estes provides a free-floating ramble for their edification, punctuated now and then with a soft and vaguely sinister snickering when she finds herself to be funny.
Would you be willing to try another one of Clarissa Pinkola Estes’s performances?
I'm afraid I am unlikely to listen to anything else narrated by this author; I haven't got even a fraction of the way through this one.
Did Theatre of the Imagination, Volume 1 inspire you to do anything?
Only turn off my car stereo, I'm afraid.
Any additional comments?
Aside from my personal preferences, I wasn't sure what this 'book' was trying to do. There were some stories, some anecdotes,a dreadul bit of singing, but all-in-all I wasn't sure where it was supposed to be taking us. I love fairy tales, folklore and psychology so it should have been a win-win, but for me it was rather a no-no. :(Admittedly I haven't heard all of it, but this is only because I found the first hour or so unbearable. Other reviewers clearly had a better experience.

So very worth it!
If you could sum up Theatre of the Imagination, Volume 1 in three words, what would they be?
Heartfelt, fascinating and honest.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Theatre of the Imagination, Volume 1?
The bringing to life much of Dr Estes' written work which I have followed for many years.
Have you listened to any of Clarissa Pinkola Estes’s other performances? How does this one compare?
At 7 plus hours it lasts but still doesn't seem long enough, the sections fly by so fast you just never want it to end!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The chapter on the Ugly duckling moved me to tears because it felt as though she was reading it to me and me alone,
Any additional comments?
This book holds wisdom that can be heard on many levels. If you are a complete beginner through to a seasoned fan, there will be a lesson for all

Step by step closer
Beautiful journey there and not necessarily back... the lift beyond, with the need to heal and the obligation to teach... once listened, one should never remain the same...

Gripping!
Through audio I found a new dimension to Dr E' s work. Listening to a live performance gave me new insights and I discovered Dr E' sense of humour woven into her gripping stories and anecdotes! This audio book has confirmed DR E s role as mentor in my life.
