This is a complete presentation on the workings of the human spirit and soul and body. The book aims at delivering people from the tyranny of self-life with its carnality and from the domination of the passions and lusts of the flesh. It attempts to lead them to the full salvation of Christ. It is not to be taken as a manual but as a guide to true spirituality. It is recommended that this three-volume work be listened to quickly once.

In an age where pleasing people, puffing up your ego and building your résumé are seen as the methods to 'make it', the Apostle Paul calls us to find true rest in blessed self-forgetfulness. This audiobook shows that gospel-humility means we can stop connecting every experience, every conversation with ourselves and can thus be free from self-condemnation. A truly gospel-humble person is not a self-hating person or a self-loving person, but a self-forgetful person. This freedom can be yours.
In this expanded edition of his classic series The Holiness of God, Dr. R.C. Sproul provides a comprehensive, biblical survey of God’s holy character and demonstrates how the demands of His holiness are met in Christ.
Institutes of the Christian Religion is John Calvin's seminal work on Protestant systematic theology. Highly influential in the Western world and still widely read by theological students today, it was published in Latin in 1536 and in his native French in 1541. The book serves as an introductory textbook on the Protestant faith for those with some previous knowledge of theology and covers a broad range of theological topics from the doctrines of church and sacraments to justification by faith alone and Christian liberty.
What would God say about those who blatantly misrepresent His Holy Spirit; who exchange true worship for chaotic fits of mindless ecstasy; who replace the biblical gospel with vain illusions of health and wealth; who claim to prophesy in His name yet speak errors; and who sell false hope to desperate people for millions of dollars? The charismatic movement has always been a breeding-ground for scandal, greed, bad doctrine, and all kinds of spiritual chicanery. As a movement, it is clearly headed the wrong direction. And it is growing at an unprecedented rate.
Without question, one of the hardest things to do is wait for god's timing. In this fast-paced world in which we live, things are set up for maximum speed and efficiency. Dazed and confused, we look for answers in all the wrong places. Our life becomes directed by fear instead of faith. We grow disheartened. Our faith can weaken. There are perfect times in your future when your life will blossom. All that god asks is for you to wait for them to be revealed.
When I was young, I experienced great difficulty reading and understanding Shakespeare. I was bottom of the class. I then bought an audio copy of the story. I understood it much, much better. Subsequently, I was the only class member who passed the examination.
How much more difficult it was for me to fully comprehend 66 books written by 40 authors - the Holy Bible. In the past, my goal was to be able to say that I had read the whole Bible at least once in my lifetime. I had made attempts to read and understand the whole Bible - but the result was that I had simply read the words without amassing the totally of the message.
Fortunately, I heard the NIV version of the Bible by Max Maclean on the UCB Bible network. From all the English-speaking actors that I heard reading the Bible here was someone that authoritatively and emotionally conveyed the totality of the God's Word. To state the obvious, I had literally 'heard' God's Word for the very first time. I chose to purchase the more informative ESV version. For an example, visit ESV.org - where you can read and listen alongside Max Maclean. This is the best reason for buying an iPod to listen on the go.
For the first time in my life I have been able to connect all the dots of the message in the Old and New Testament - in a comparatively short space of time. Listening for an hour per day you can hear the whole Bible in 10 - 12 weeks. The reality is that you'll probably want more than an hour per day, simply to answer the question of `what happens next?'
The bottom line is that this is so important for your salvation, as an additional item to the written Word.

Good performance. Hard to navigate chapters. Easy to listen to and hear. The chapters were present then all disappeared in an update. Still an essential collection

fab narrator and background music, but extremely hard to navigate through - the chapter divisions are all messed up. I'm still trying to find the section for the book of James, has taken me quite sometime already... I understand that there is a free version of this audible book on Bible Gateway (by the same narrator) which is much easier to navigate, but the audio quality is not as good.

Probably the best option on Audible at the moment. The translation isn't what I'd hoped for. Mostly I have to give this 3 stars because of the formatting. It's split into 37 different files. This makes it a bit of a pain to organize. The book of Psalms was messed up and there are no chapters for it. For the largest book in the bible that makes going through it hard. Psalms also would lock up my mp3 player at times.

This recording is excellent. Max McLean does a great job reading (I have listened to it many times at a free online site) which is why I wanted this audiobook. However, the download has no chapter divisions, which is extremely frustrating. In some cases, multiple books are in a single file, which presents a similar problem. You have to fast forward or rewind through entire books of the Bible in order to get to a certain chapter, and even then, if you miss the chapter heading, it is very difficult to tell which chapter you are in. Online, I primarily listen to a chapter or a few chapters at a time, not necessarily starting from the beginning of a book and then moving all the way through. I would have easily given this a 5 star rating if there were chapter breaks.

This is a very good narration of the Bible. Max McLean is a wonderful reader. Only problem I had is that no matter how it is load onto the player, it will not play the books in correct order. It is very distracting to have to search for the next book.

The reading is just a bit fast for my taste, but otherwise it's very good. It is well modulated without being excessively theatrical. The sound quality is acceptable. It's got adequate divisions in it that you can find the book and perhaps chapter that you want without too much trouble. The translation is one I haven't used before, but it seems pretty good. I usually listen to it while driving, and it's very good for that purpose. I also like to play audio when I am going to sleep, and it's quite good for this purpose too.

What disappointed you about The Listener's Bible?
I loved the reader but the getting around was IMPOSSIBLE and you have a ton of downloads. You get the SAME man reading the Bible, same version and you can navigate to whatever verse you want by downloading the Bible Gateway app for FREE!!!!!
What about Max McLean’s performance did you like?
Max's voice was very nice to listen to. I even enjoyed it in the begats!

The recording is high quality with some soft background music that I at 1st thought would be distracting, but after listening for a while found it not to be so.
This is the 1st time I have listened to the ESV and must say that I really enjoy the way it flows. Very simple yet accurate translation. I currently read from the NKJV but I will probably switch to this with the purchase of my next Bible.

I drive an hour to work each so I decided to make the drive a little more fruitful. Initially, I thought I wouldn't get or that it wouldn't "sink in". But God definetly speaks to me. I particularly noticed it when i was praying out loud- what I had been listening to earlier that day seemed to come out in my prayer. It surprised even me. So if you think you won't be able to focus I encourage you to try anyway. You'll get something out of it. I slowed it down on my ipod to help myself out and its perfect.

As said in the title. I'm not sure what other people are using but if you are using the audible app you can easily go from chapter to chapter. Very solid performance.

My church has a daily bible reading that takes you through the bible in one year. They have a "listen" button on their website and this is the version that they use for that. I started to really enjoy having it read to me, but I am not alsways able to listen on the computer so I bought this for my car. It is a very fine reading and keeps me interested even through some of the tougher parts of the OT. I actually enjoyed Leviticus!!!
One thing that has been reported about this version is the inability to fast forward to specific chapters. I was having the same frustration, but I just discovered that there are chapters that I can access on my i-pod and within i-tunes. In i-tunes, if you select a specific book and start it playing, there is a menu next to "advanced" that says "chapters". This allows you to go to a specific chapter within the book. On my i-pod I can select the specific book and then there are chapters that I can select. I do not know why you cannot use the "next" or "back" functions to get to specific chapters, but at least there another way besides fast forwarding through hundreds of minutes in order to find a chapter. ..
Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Narrator is fine, background music is low and not distracting. Probably my favorite version, and I wanted to keep listening. Sometimes the Old Testament is a chore, but this was well done. I will listen to this again.
