Summary

In the course of his work as a vicar, Dave Tomlinson meets lots of people who describe themselves as 'not good enough' to be Christians, thinking that faith involves going to church a lot or believing in a list of strange things or following certain rules. But being a Christian isn't about any of that - and actually, following Jesus is a lot easier, and more fun, than most people think....

In this handbook to Christianity for people who describe themselves as spiritual but not necessarily religious, Dave sketches out some key practices for how to be a 'bad' Christian, including how to talk to God without worrying about prayer, how to read the Bible without turning off your brain, and how to think with your soul rather than trying to follow rules.

This is an accessible, lighthearted book but one with a powerful invitation: to be the person you've always wanted to be, following a God you've always hoped is on your side.

Truthful and refreshing

For anyone who leans towards spirituality but is put off by churches that feel more interested in ought than in love. This is the Jesus I recognise - magnetic, joyful, utterly open.

A helpful and gentle book.

I think this book is beneficial for non- beleivers and new followers of The Way but also lessons for the hardened religious types. makes me want to hear more about his relationship with God.
As is often the case spoiled a bit by appendices which refer to websites etc. and mislead about the length of the book but I really appreciated the style and content otherwise.

Lacking in gospel truth

The book contains many personal reflections of how being kind and meditating well grow the kingdom of God on earth. But it ignores the saving grace of God brought about through the death and resurrection of Jesus. God is referred to as more of a feeling that a living king.
Contains interesting opinions for the bible believing Christian but would be dangerous for the non believer. Preaching christianity without Christ is no use at all.
