Publisher's Summary

A flourishing life is possible - no perfection required!

Women often feel like they have to have it all together in order to live meaningful lives. Instead they feel inadequate, overwhelmed, and exhausted as they try to figure out how to do it all. Author, business owner, and mom to three Lara Casey offers sound and grace-filled advice: "We can't do it all and do it well. But we can choose to cultivate what matters."

Welcome to the journey of getting messy in the rich soil of possibility - embracing imperfect, grace-filled progress to grow a life of joy.

Written as part encouragement anthem and part practical guide, Cultivate offers wisdom from God's word alongside lessons Lara has learned in her garden. Woven throughout is her personal story that helps release listeners from the pressure to achieve and gives them freedom to move from planning to planting a meaningful legacy. "It's in the imperfect - the mess of the dirt - that good things grow," Casey reminds listeners. "Peonies grow through the dirt, and so do we." Listeners will learn to embrace the seasons they're in, finding balance as they interact in fresh ways with their current life scenarios, with God, and in the communities where they are planted.

Special features include:

  • Actionable "Cultivate It" prompts throughout the book
  • A 10-week "Cultivate Together" discussion guide, with questions for small groups
  • "Grace from the Garden" vignettes providing encouragement and inspiration

Find the joy and the freedom that comes in cultivating what matters, little by little, with God's transforming grace.

There are so many places that should have been edited out but were left. It's a good message, just poorly edited.

    "Excellent, I really enjoyed it!"

Lara is a great narrator!! It's like you are just sitting together and hanging out. I enjoyed all the parallels to gardening in this book. As someone who is also an unlikely gardener, giving my go at gardening these past couple of years, I could relate! This book was filled with wonderful reminders of the lies we find ourselves believing and how to replace them with God's truth. I love Lara's openness and honesty about her journey throughout the book. I loved Lara's first book, Make It Happen, and this second book was another great one!
Thank you Lara for opening up and sharing your story. It's through your experiences- good and bad-that you are so effectively able to encourage other women. People are drawn to those who are open, honest and willing to be vulnerable. I'm sure it felt risky, but I assure you it was worth it. Thank you for taking that risk! (I also love all your pictures of Gracie's garden that you post!)

    "Preachy"

If #blessed was a book. Every upbeat American female stereotype is embodied in this book from use of the phrase "pray with me" to reader's chirpy voice, one can just image the bounce in the author's blonde high pony, except the author takes pains to let you know she is a redhead. Though it rambles in the middle and never addresses how to mend the faltering marriage presented in the beginning, except to surrender to god's will. By the latter half when the listen becomes immunized to uses to uses of 'HIM' there are some nice sentiments. It's unfortunate to say how annoying this book was because the author clearly had good intentions.

    "Loved this so much! "

This book totally resonated with me in the season of life I’m in. Lara narrated beautifully, and was such an encourager to not get caught up in the things that don’t matter, but to cultivate a lasting legacy and a life that matters. I will read this many times , I’m sure.

"Cultivate sows seeds of grace, intentionality, and "peace in our mess" in those who read it!"

This book is inspired! Thank you to Lara Casey for sharing her life, her story, and the lessons that God has taught her; so that seeds of grace, intentionality, and "peace in our mess" could be sown into the lives of others! Cultivate has a beautiful balance and flow that makes introducing sometimes challenging ideas into your world, a little easier to swallow. If you have dreams and desires that you have yet to see fulfilled (whether bubbling just under the surface or hidden deep within), this book can help guide you to walking out God's plan for you in a purposeful way that brings Him glory. Definitely a must read (listen)!

"A book guaranteed to rattle up your heart and lead you to better!"

This book will cause you to have and experience convictions within your heart and soul.
I have followed Lara for a few years now and her stories leave lasting impressions but are done in a way that force me to keep being less self serving and instead lead by cultivating my gifts. Cultivate is just that extra reminder and push. God has great things in store for you and this book will help you dig deep and get closer to that.
