Summary

Safe. Comfortable. Happy. Words we all love. Feelings we want. Even crave. We may love God, but being that he’s invisible, words like comfortable seem to feel better faster. We are all chasing something. Our hearts were made to run hard and fast after things that move us. But as a generation, we are all beginning to stir and wake up, identifying that these words don’t satisfy for long, especially when compared to God. If God is real, and we are going to live with Him forever, shouldn’t He be everything? Caught in this familiar haze of worldly happiness and empty pursuits, Jennie Allen and her husband Zac, prayed a courageous prayer of abandonment that took them on the adventure God had written for them. “God, we will do anything. Anything.” Anything is a prayer of surrender that will spark something. A prayer that will move us to stop chasing things that just make us feel happy and start living a life that matters. A life that is... Surrendered. Reckless. Courageous. If we truly know a God worth giving anything for, everything changes.

I can't even finish it

I have made it to the 4th chapter and I can't listen any more. I am sure the author is a sweet lady but this book is all about her: her feelings and thought about God, her conversations with friends, her perception of life. Unless you are just like her or a fan of hers you may struggle to find anything valuable in it. From the brief preview clip I thought this book would be about something else. I am sure she finds her life very interesting but I do not and I can't even bring myself to finish it.

A challenging book that will transform you.

I read this book on Kindle at the same time I listened to the audiobook and I found doing both to be of a benefit. Although Jenny belongs to a slightly different stream of Christianity than I do, our hearts both long to make a difference in our world. I had this book in my library for a while before I finally sat down to listen to it. I really didn't know what the book was about, to be honest, I bought it because I got a good deal on it. However, as soon as I read the first paragraph, I knew the book was a word from God for me. I'm at the point in my life once again where I am praying the anything prayer. God, I will do anything for you. Jennie writes with humour, transparency and rawness. If your world is perfectly in order, this book is for you. If your life is out of control, this book is for you. God calls all Christians to abandon ourselves to His reckless, passionate love and to follow Him in reckless obedience. This book will convince you of that truth.

Go ALL IN with Jesus!

If you could sum up Anything in three words, what would they be?

A future classic.

What did you like best about this story?

Jennie Allen pulls no punches!

What does Jaimee Draper bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would not have experienced nearly the same impact from this book without the process of listening to it being read aloud.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

What is YOUR "anything?"

Any additional comments?

Definitely worth the investment!

Skip it

This book started off fine but was painful to finish. It read like a journal and didn't give much in terms of strong spiritual and biblical application. I didn't want to hear what she was doing as she went to write the chapters or about her coffee dates. I think some people like that but I am going to skip it from here on.

Anything is Everthing

Very well done. The speaker did an excellent job. Mrs. Allen is a gifted writer and communicator. She has real life stories that are practical and timely. I recommend this book to anyone serious about their faith and walk with Jesus.
