Steve Chandler has given us an invitation - as well as a challenge - to become something far greater than we are now. To become, in essence, a "style tracker" rather than a "time tracker".

"Be yourself" they said. "I want to be" I said. "But who am I?" Have you ever noticed that what you think about who you are, how you should be, how well you are doing changes? This is because our idea of who we are is created in thought and it is the nature of thought to change. Looking at this more clearly takes us on a breath-taking exploration into what is real about us...The first part of Real looks at everything that cannot be true about who we are. The second part explores what remains when our thought-created idea of self dissolves.

Great book
- By Anonymous User on 16-08-22
Summary
This completely revised and updated edition of Reinventing Yourself, the motivational classic by inspirational author Steve Chandler, features several new chapters, including:
- What to Do about Your Money Fears
- Your Career Played as a Game vs. Your Career as a Grind for Survival
- How Much Ego Do You Need to Succeed?
- The Hidden Downside of Winning Friends and Influencing People
- Do You Need a Life Coach or Should You Just Wing It?
- Does Success Make You Happy or Does Happiness Make You Successful?
You'll learn numerous techniques for breaking down negative barriers and letting go of the pessimistic thoughts that prevent you from fulfilling, or even allowing yourself to conceive of, your goals and dreams.
Chandler's new edition also tunes, polishes, and strengthens the many popular and inspiring chapters from previous editions of this book, making them even more useful and relevant in today's rapidly changing, globalized world.
The old psychological models that focused on past hurts and traumatic memories have given way to exciting new breakthroughs, like Dr. Martin Seligman's work on post-traumatic strength and Dr. George Pransky's work on human beings' innate resilience and well-being. No more fixating on psychic wounds that occurred in childhood. Chandler's new revision looks at the work of both of those pioneers and makes optimism available to people who never believed they could reinvent their old ways of being.

i didn't just listen. I enthusiastically scribbled notes that inspired me and they in turn inspired even more thoughts based on whatever topic it was at the time. For me, Steve Chandler is the most inspiring philosopher/coach/person I have ever come across. I am in flow listening to his words of wisdom. I will return here again and again. Warren :)

LOTS of implementable tactics
The ideas in this book are not necessarily new, but are explained in a way that makes it very easy to understand. Maybe it’s ears finally willing to hear, but I just listened all the way through today while cleaning house, and I am putting it back on to listen through again until I go to sleep. Simple yet informative
I have been thru a lot of struggles in my life but all along I knew i would be fine and i have bounced back stronger than before. The last four years have been a struggle and the longer I try to keep status quo the more I don’t recognize myself. And that is how I found this book. It is very insightful but not complicated in showing what changes need to make to be become the person we envision.
The narrator did a great job as well. Calm but not boring. The knowledge in the book along with the narrator’s voice made it a pleasant experience and I can’t wait to put it into effect.

A very very good book with a lot of good insights
I was really hooked after having started this book and I could see many situations in my own life, where I was a victim (in my own mind at least) and I really could identify with the owner vs victim approach.
Well writen and a positive angle, where guilt and blame were not present.
Very pleasant voice and now I understand the high rating.
Also the angel about problems not being something bad, but something to grow on the top off. Great.
Only one small correction: Chandler mention two time Denmark as the country with the highest suicide rate in the World. This in not correct - we a place around the middle - but I understand his point. Even though you have a high living standard like we have in Denmark, and high security it is not a guarantee for happiness.
We miss the "hunger" because of a comfortable life and I often think about the words of Bruce Lee: Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one!

Will change your life
For me this was the right book at the right time as I had to deal with many personal and professionals storms at the same time most aligned precisely around my 50th anniversary. Reinvention is not finding and adopting a new personality but understanding you never had one in the first place, then what’s left is pure freedom and action.
