Abridged!
After listening to Trinity I was looking forward to Redemption. What a disappointment! This book was read by another reader than Trinity and really bland in his performance. Then I discovered the book was abridged, and rather clumsily, with no feeling for the story.
I returned the book. Will read this one as a proper book.
Don’t know about the story yet as I’m still reading, so I gave it three stars.

Wait for unabridged or read
I really looked forward to this novel because of its setting and reputation, but did not enjoy it. As a previous reviewer suggested, the backgound of the Irish freedom struggle, Gallipoli, and some discussion of the imperialist rationale for WW1 are fascinating and well-woven into the narrative, but as a whole this "listen" failed me - I suspect it's mostly due to the often abrupt abridgements.
The "action" scenes are probably very well-written, but I have little appreciation for those.

Warning: it is abridged.
What would have made Redemption better?
I didn't realize it was abridged. I stopped listening shortly after starting. Too much missing.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Make it unabridged.

Redemption
This was a gut wrenching book (especially if you have an Irish background). A book that leaves you wanting more. I wish that this had been an unabriged book.

Very disappointing
I went right from the excellent Trinity with its outstanding narrator to Redemption without taking the time to read carefully and ascertain that it was an abridged version. Why would Audible offer the first in this series as an extremely well done unabridged version and follow up with this less mediocre sequel. Very disappointing.

abridged
unfortunately, when I was about three-quarters of the way through listening to this, I discovered it was an Abridged version. if I was warned that it was abridged, I would not have bothered.

Not really a sequel to Trinity
basically half of this book is covered in the book Trinity. I wouldn't spend the money on it. it is a bit of an overstatement to call this a sequel.

Charlie Brown's teacher
This book is set around the Irish-English conflict, which is over religion, I think? The plot and characters are unfamiliar and I guess I should listen to the prequel, Trinity, which receives rave reviews. This one is a slow read, and since it's really a listen, there is not much motivation to go past an hour or so; cut one's losses and go on to something that's interesting. The story is unfamiliar and without some background in Irish politics, it's not worth going over, so I quit--did not finish. The book began to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher...wah-wah, wah-wah, ;wah-wah! Didn't even get to know the characters enough to want to skip to the end and see how it came out. After three tries to read/listen, I gave up and went on to other things, like washing the dishes.

A Total Waste of Time & Money
More than the first ½ of the book os a Recap of Trinity, and there seems to be some Differences in Details
The Narrator is absolutely Horrible
The Narrator tries to emulate a Kiwi (New Zealand) accent that sound like a bad imitation of an American Accent.. It hurt my ears.

Poorly abridged version
The full book I read 25 years ago was great. This was a terribly abridged version that lost everything that makes the full book a great story

Disappointing and Repetitive
I thought the Novel “Redemption “ was a continuation of “trinity”. Perhaps 40% was new information and it overlapped the time period of the earlier book.
