Summary

Rio de Janeiro. Brazilians call it Cidade Maravilhosa - the Marvellous City - but crime festers in its favelas like cancer.

John Milton is visiting an old friend who runs a close protection business guarding the city's elite. Milton offers to stand in when one of his bodyguards doesn’t turn up for work. The job? Take the wife and daughter of an anticorruption judge to a school recital and bring them back again. Simple?

Not so much. The girl is snatched off the street, and Milton is nearly killed. As he recovers at a Group Fifteen safe house, he decides on two objectives.

First, find the girl.

Second, punish the kidnappers for what they’ve done.

Milton’s trip becomes a lethal quest into the heart of the lawless slums and against the gangs who wield the real power in Rio. But Milton won’t stop there - he’ll chase them right into the horrific heart of darkness until his special brand of justice has been well and truly served.

Another Epic Milton Adventure...

Milton is in Rio, visiting an old army colleague and offers to stand in on a seemingly straightforward protection assignment, when one of his friends team members fails to make it. Corruption throughout Brazil is being targeted for clean up, and those Milton is protecting are at the heart of that process. The assignment doesn't go to plan, and Milton is thrust deep into a situation where blackmail, corruption and double crossing are par for the course. Milton goes looking for a young girl, kidnapped during a raid on the party he was assigned to protect, and has to figure out who he can trust in order to infiltrate deep into the criminal underworld.
Great storyline, full of action which certainly kept me very interested.
Super narration by David Thorpe.

Another great read

This latest instalment of the John Milton continues in the same style. Thankfully with less reference to the AA, which have been a little over done in previous books.
Thoroughly entertaining, I listened attentively for two days and really couldn’t put this book down.

What can I say - I'm just a devoted fan

Quite why I like this series so much I'm not sure. It's very much a series for the chaps I think and the regular descriptions of fights and beatings are far from my idea of a good time. Yet love it I do. David Thorpe conjures up a tremendously vivid picture of John Milton who one can't help but warm to - despite the fact that his quest to do good in the world results in such a huge body count. If, like me, your an avid listener to this series book 12 is certainly not going to disappoint.

Milton is back

This time, John Milton is off to the favelas of Rio De Janeiro, to meet up with a friend from the past. After offering to help his friend with a job which was now a man down, Milton gets anther shock when he realises the life he lives means he will never know who his true friends are.

Packed with action and a decent storyline, expertly told by one of my favourite narrators, I'd highly recommend buying this. The ending is great, too!

Absolutely brilliant

Cannot recommend this book enough. I have absolutely loved all the Milton books. This narrator is amazing and is perfect for the character.
Note to author, please don’t ever kill Milton, I would be devastated! Just keep writing the books! Thank you

Fantastic

Great story, well narrated and gripping. What more could you want. Mark Dawson does it again and proves he is an excellent storyteller. This really is worth a few hours of your time. If you love a great action thriller, you’ll love this.

A worthy addition to the J Milton collection

Excellent story and as always the narrator did disappoint. If you are new to the J Milton story, I recommend catching up on the other books before listening to this.

Another terrific novel in the John Milton series!!

Milton continues to roam the world trying to salve his guilt about murders he committed working for British Intelligence. REDEEMER finds him in Rio de Janeiro visiting an old friend when a young girl is kidnapped. Like most other novels in the series this one is a superb suspense mystery as there are no limits to what Milton will do to save the young girl. David Thorpe's narration is excellent.

John Milton is Awesome!!!!

Riveting...suspenseful...tense action that's typical in the John Milton series. The revenge factor is off the charts and Dawson writes with great depth to his characters and his story line is exceptional. Fans will enjoy this one! Looking forward to the next installment. Like the Jack Reacher novels from Lee Child you never want them to come to an end.

Dawson at his best

Redeemer is the 12th book in the Milton series. I have listened to all of them this summer. I told Mr. Dawson I consider him in the same league as Flynn, Sandford, and Silva. As with all authors they have good books, average book and at times great books. The Redeemer is in my mind is Dawson's best so far. I found it refreshing that Dawson doesn't send so much time on Milton's weakness but on his positive points. In this book Milton is as good as Mitch Rapp, Virgil Flowers, Lucas Davenport or even the great Gabriel Allon.
David Thorpe is an excellent narrator. He gives as much to Dawson's books as George Guidall does to Silva's and Flynn's works.
Thank you Mark for an excellent book. The Milton series would make such a great movie franchise as long as someone didn't mess it up like they have done with the Lee Childs books. I feel that we could be talking about Dawson in the same light as we think of Ian Flemming and his Bond series. That is how much I like this book.

Welcome back, John!

I just can’t get enough of John Milton’s adventures. This was a fantastic story through and through. Dawson and Thorpe make a great team. The bad guys in this story are really good characters too. I recommend this book to all; however, if you are unfamiliar with the John Milton series, start at Book 1, The Cleaner.

Excellent as Always

Storyline is very entertaining, kept me wanting more. i listened to the book stopping only long enough to get a nights sleep. John Milton is one of the best ex-assassin's turned Redeemer that i have listened to. Reacher, Robie are still good books, but in my opinion they are all second to John Milton. i really enjoy the characters he meets, his old comrades and the people he helps. This definitely needs to be made into a series of movies or Netflix series. Mark Dawson-hurry up with the next installment
