About this listen

The royally romantic, enemies-to-lovers bestseller from Casey McQuiston, bestselling author of One Last Stop. Now a Prime Original movie starring Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez.

What happens when America's First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales?

Alex Claremont-Diaz is handsome, charismatic, a genius – pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House ever since his mother first became President of the United States. There’s only one problem. When the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an altercation between Alex and Prince Henry, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Heads of family and state devise a plan for damage control: stage a truce. But what begins as a fake, Instagrammable friendship grows deeper, and more dangerous, than either Alex or Henry could have imagined.

Soon they are hurtling into a secret romance that could derail the presidential campaign and upend two nations . . .

Critic reviews

Red, White & Royal Blue is outrageously fun. It is romantic, sexy, witty, and thrilling. I loved every second (Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones & The Six)
I took this with me wherever I went and stole every second I had to read! Absorbing, hilarious, tender, sexy—this book had everything I crave. I’m jealous of all the readers out there who still get to experience Red, White & Royal Blue for the first time! (Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners and The Paradise Problem)

The idea for a book - is good. Interesting. The bad thing was that the author showed a lack of knowledge about royalty or British royalty. There were a few unrealistic things. The chemistry between Alex and Henry is pretty good. The chapters are a bit too long.

The 1st son and the prince...a thing?

Alex is a handsome mixed race Latinx man who is son to the first female president in this "fiction echoing fact" novel. Along with his other siblings, he's talented, smart, passionate and supports his mom in her re-election campaign as 2020 approaches.
His previous boss and political idol is openly gay, Mexican politician Rafael Luna.
He loves the work he does, in fact loves almost everything - apart from visits to and from the UK royal family and his nemesis Prince Henry.
They're at an important wedding when they get into another conflab, and both grasping each other, fall on top of the £75k wedding cake.
Apart from the icing, there's still a helluva mess to clean up, so the first sons have to play nice and play friends, pose for photos, do fake friendship, PR, but as they get to know each other feelings change.
That's all I'll say for now in terms of story.
First off, it's done in part epistolary form, with emails, group chats, texts and letters.
It's hilarious, romantic, sexy, funny thrilling and also features the kind of presidency many of us wishes for.
Henry is adorably geeky, naive and flustered whilst Alex is cheeky, also cute and funny.
This is by far the best rom com I've read this year and it will make my top ten of all time.
I have high hopes for the series too.
Pez is a great support character, Liam and Spencer are cute as hell, Nora is superb, as is B.
An altogether fabulous whirlwind of a novel.
Ramon de Ocampo completely nailed the narration.

Lovely hate to love love story. I really believed the worlds the writer drew and enjoyed the characters. Felt the writer really did her research.
The American actor was excellent with all the characters - especially the English ones. Really enjoyable.
