Summary
Siobhan Quinn is back and working a new case in the dark and satirical sequel to Blood Oranges. Half-vampire, half-werewolf Siobhan Quinn survived her initiation into the world of demons and monsters. But staying alive as she becomes entangled in underworld politics might prove to be more difficult. When the daughter of a prominent necromancer vanishes, it's up to Quinn to find the girl. But her search will land her directly in the middle of a struggle between competing forces searching for an ancient artifact of almost unimaginable power...

Quinn and Benson, again
Amber Benson narrates the second adventure of Quinn the vampire / werewolf of Providence with more confidence, a tight grip on her character's voice, a pleasing rhythm, and a slight monotony if one listens too long at a time. I would describe her Quinn voice as a combination of a cat's purr and a tiger's growl; perfect. She also does arrogant old demons and Gaelic trolls and obnoxious seagulls and snotty Goth girls well.

Long yawn
I've attempted to get through this book for several days now, but, it doesn't make any sense. I can't for the life of me figure out what is going on and why. Maybe if I can make myself finish it will all become clear. Fingers crossed.

impressed yet again
I enjoyed the first book of this series because I felt it did a good job of telling the story of a protagonist who was a drug addict, who was technically stronger than all the other monsters but didn't seem overpowered, and who was the narrator of her own book in a humorous way. This book had the same thing, but opened up the world a bit and exposed us to other big bad monster. more importantly, it let Quinn be the detective trying to solve the mystery, all the while saying that she wasn't a detective. Her horrible attitude towards everyone else, whether they be "food" or what you could be called as her peers does get a little old. I feel that this is explained away somewhat in the fact she is almost suicidal, being corned with no options so often that she just doesn't seem to care.
Still, I enjoyed it, and if you liked the first one that you will like this.
