The gripping new thriller and instant New York Times best seller, perfect for escapist listening.

The holiday of your dreams...

When Lux and Nico get the chance to sail to a remote island off the coast of Hawaii, they’re thrilled. It’s the trip they’ve been dreaming of their whole lives.

A tropical paradise...

Despite a dark history of shipwrecks and murder, the island is beautiful. But they’re not alone - another group is already there.

No one will hear your screams....

It’s not long before cracks emerge, and someone goes missing. Then a body surfaces, and Lux starts to wonder if any of them are going to make it back to shore alive....

Compelling Thrilling Cure for the Wintertime Blues

This is by far the best audiobook I have listened to in a long time and by an author I am new to but now will definitely put on my wish list for future reads/listens.
I think it would also make a completely fabulous thriller movie.
I was really blown away by the cunning, brilliant and well crafted tightly wound plotting which is do well disguised in the intriguing relaxed and easy going introduction to the adventure.

I had no idea that the majority of the narration would be in an American accent. It's strange, I love US TV and Film but for some reason I find a lot of Audiobooks narrated by American accents impossible to listen to. Possibly because there seems to be a lot of rather harsh, brash and almost shouty narrators who seem to be chosen for thriller/mysteries and it just turns me off.
In fact when I started listening I was so disappointed and annoyed with myself for not checking as I realised I would have to return it ....................... but the writing was so good the narration grew on me. Parts were in an English accent which was impressive and a small part in an Australian accent which was less successful with a really strange pronunciation of "Canberra as CANbera!. If it were possible however I would have given the narration 4.5 stars as it did keep me gripped.

The plot was a real CRACKERJACK and the setting on a desert island (which apparently they call a deserted island in the US) was a welcome escape from winter and covid thwarted wanderlust.
At first I found the constant F-bombing a bit jarring but the story was so good I soon became accustomed to it.
The layers of duplicity and deception in the plot just kept revealing themselves, nothing is as it seems and I was totally, delightfully blindsided.
Awesomely, intricately and thoroughly fiendishly plotted with so many shocking reveals, the story has an extra dimension interspersed with "Then" chapters which skews everything you thought you knew.
I thought it was incredibly clever and amazingly well crafted with a finale which does not disappoint and even the set up for perhaps a sequel?

I enjoyed every moment and the imagery was so vivid that I can still see the mysterious island so clearly and the mercury is dipping alarmingly here I feel like I have just got back from a sunshine holiday.
What a delicious treat - I would give it 6 stars if I could!
