A Game Changer
We are all aware of the calls for diversity & inclusion but the way it is demanded & legislated has turned many business people into sceptics. Their scepticism and inaction often increases the requirement for tick boxes and ever more activism.
Matthew Syed clearly lays the case for cognitive diversity through evidenced science and case studies.
Reading this book & implementing its ideas will significantly increase the wealth of your company and the intelligence of your organisation.

I had to listen hard...
A thought provoking book which was well worth a listen to and certainly makes you think about the true meaning of diversity! I found on numerous occasions having to rewind a little as I may have got distracted and missed some detail, but great stories/examples to bring to life the contents. I'm now going order the book too so I can dip back in and out of for work.

to be read by anyone
Surely one of the most interesting and thought provoking books out there. I have enjoyed it and would recommend anyone to read it.
I did not agree with everything, as everything is viewed through the scientific eye and that is rather limited, especially when dealing with human behaviour.
I would recommend The Religious Sense from L Giussani for a more in depth view to explain some behaviours.
Surely this book helped me document the importance of diversity

thought provoking insight
there is a reason this book was the chartered management institute book of the year in 2020. the insight for leaders navigatig out of covid would do well to listen and apply some of the principles contained. To create stronger and more resilient organisations.

I want my directors to read this book
I started out being a bit wary of this book; mainly because I wasn't enamoured with the narrator's voice. (something about the pronunciation of "diversiddy" really irritated me).
Once I'd managed to get past that, and concentrate on the actual message, I was very impressed. I think I probably consume about ten of these pop science / cultural thinking books in an average year, and this one has gone straight into the small handful of titles that I think everyone 'should' read.
I work in a mostly white male industry, and for a while we've been taking about attracting a more diverse management and workforce. It seems fairly obvious to me now that we should also be looking for managers from completely different industries.
A lucid and thought provoking book that had me taking down notes for ideas to apply in the real world. Well worth the time.

On form again
Matthews book “Bounce” was amazing. “Black box thinking” was not so good. This book “Rebel ideas” puts Matthew back on form again. And his voice is always great to listen to. Covered some very important points, such as the benefits of diversity. Well worth a listen.
