How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons: Sleep with your boss. Check. Blow all your money on a rental you can’t afford. Check. How to walk away from a man you fall in love with at the end of a summer: I’ll let you know when I figure it out.

Story
It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old". Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar. He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out. When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight -- telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend-smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

Story
A new standalone novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Vi Keeland. The night I met Drew Jagger, he'd just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing. Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn't an intruder at all. Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He'd been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.

Money or love? Which would you choose? You probably just answered the question in your head, thinking it's an easy decision. For me, it's not. Did I mention it's a lot of money? A hell of a lot. I needed to go far away to think it through. As I embarked on an impulsive trip, I hit a detour when I met sexy Carter in the airport lounge. We struck up a heated conversation. Then, he left. I thought I'd never see him again. But fate had other plans. Surprise! He was the pilot of my flight.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job - a job I’d now have to compete for, even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars - except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet. Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break. Until one day, it did. Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing. Griffin forgave me, and we were able to rekindle our childhood connection.

Finding a good roommate through a classified ad isn’t as easy as it sounds. I was starting to lose hope. Until a knock at my door came, and God answered my prayers. Except...uh...wrong prayer, God. I’d definitely requested the big guy find me a drop-dead gorgeous man on more than one occasion...just not as my roommate. Declan Tate talked me into interviewing him anyway. Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

A real love story
- By janice on 06-08-21
Summary
From New York Times best-selling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes the first book in a new sexy duet.
How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons:
Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check.
Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check.
How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons:
Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony-looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season.
Check. Check. Check.
I should add - especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed god of a boss.
Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town.
Especially when he’s mean to you.
Or so I thought.
Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark.
That was sort of how it all started with Rush.
And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down.
I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close.
I wasn't supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me.
As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting - and complicated.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Rebel Heir is the first book in the Rush Series Duet. Book Two, Rebel Heart, will release six weeks later on May, 22, 2018.

Angsty, emotional, great.
Overall Rating: 5 Stars
Story: 5 Stars
Narration: 5 Stars
I thoroughly enjoyed Rebel Heir. Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward make such and amazing team. Quirky humour and a great story-line are pretty much guaranteed with these two and this Rebel Heir more than developed. I really loved the passing reference to another of their books.
This story really takes off when Gia starts working at Rush’s bar. They clash and they dance around each other. The chemistry zaps off of the page, or in my case, out of the speakers.
Rush is an alpha male and can be a bit of an ass, this causes tension between he and Gia.
Gia is a sweet, but sassy character and she takes none of Rush’s crap, despite her upset at some of Rush’s behaviour.
This is an angsty, sexy, emotional romance that has it all.
Please don’t be put off by the fact that this book does end on a cliffhanger, (I know how people feel about those.) The good news is that you can immediately read/ listen to the second book in this duet so you don’t have to wait.
Rebel Heir was narrated by Maxine Mitchell, Sebastian York. They are both fantastic narrators and really do this book justice. The voices suit the characters and the acting was exceptional which really brought the story to life.
The more intimate scenes were well dealt with (I have listened to books where they are uncomfortable sounding or overdone) the sensual scenes in this book flowed along with the story and felt like a natural progression.

Good story
Enjoyed this book, though don’t think it matched up to the fantastic cover. Whoever created that is a genius as I bet loads of people buy the book based on that cover and the model alone.
Maxine Mitchell wasn’t the best. Don’t know why she’s used as a narrator so often as she just sounds angsty and distracts from the story. Sebastian York was good but he doesn’t have as many chapters.

Gutted
First off, I really enjoyed the narrator's. I feel they did a great job and I was generally enjoying this story until I got to to chapter 18... at that point it became soo predictable and cliched that I just couldn't bare to finish it. So now I'm left feeling flat and disappointed. Quite gutted as it was going great till then.

4.5 Narration Perfection Stars
Gia is an author……..well, she’s bagged herself a book deal, her first book, the thing is, she hasn’t written it yet!
She decides to go away for the summer to get some inspiration and her creative juices flowing, and gets a nice little house to rent on the beach, a friend of hers works at the fancy bar/restaurant so she has company too…..perfect!
Gia’s friend calls her one evening to ask her to cover for her behind the bar as she has a family emergency, even though she doesnt have that much experience, she agrees, i mean how difficult can it be?
The answer to this comes quickly when people start ordering cocktails she has never heard of, charging customers wrong, and basically having a pretty crappy time.
What is making this worse is that there is a man watching her from the other side of the bar, he doesn’t fit in with the rest of the posh people here, he has a black leather jacket and jeans on, she asks him what he wants to drink, and promptly charges him wrong…..this wouldn’t be a problem, but it turns out to be the boss, oh and he owns the place, his name….Rush!
Rush……ahh Rush 😍
Most people that work at the restaurant think he is a bit of a dick, and he does come across that way, but Gia doesn’t take any crap from anyone and gives as good as she gets, which seems to please Rush.
An unlikely friendship forms between them both and then romance, but a big unforeseen spanner gets thrown in the works, and things may not turn out how they both hope.
This ends in a cliffhanger, but don’t worry, you won’t have to wait long, as book 2 comes out in a few weeks
🎧🎧 Narrated by the always sexy voiced Sebastian York #SebYesPlease and the totally gorgeous Maxine Mitchell.
They will set your earphones on fire with their sexual chemistry and witty one liners.
Enjoy the Rush,

The story is beautiful and I love the characters, but I hate that authors are now just ending the story line in the middle. Novels are supposed to have a beginning, middle and ending. This book just stops! Need to wait for the next book coming out in May

A COMPELLING DUET WRITTEN BY A TALENTED DUO
Well this review is going to be short and sweet... not because I didn’t love it.. because I absolutely did, not because I wasn’t entertained by it.. because I so was and not because I thought the dual POV plotline lacked anything.. because the sizzles, the simmer, the banter, the build and the romantic feels were all there. No, it’s because book two is locked and loaded on my iPhone ready to be heard and, because there was such a nasty twist of a cliffhanger at the end of this book, I just can’t wait to hear how it’ll impact on lives and what the fallout will be on a hero and heroine who so deserve a HEA ending.
Worth a credit? Compelling.. and yes maybe a little predictable - but I really don’t care.. I loved it anyway.. and I loved the way Sebastian and Maxine brought the characters to life, set the tone, gave it sass and delivered all the emotional feels that made this a 5 star very creditworthy listen.

🌟🌟 5 Stars 🌟🌟
Gia and Rush might be my new favorite couple! These two banter better than anyone. I loved how when they met he tried to be bossy and a jerk and she wasn't having it and gave it right back. My favorite kind of heroine. I loved the direction this book went for Gia and loved Rush's reaction even more. These two are hot with amazing chemistry. I was hooked from chapter one. Loved the shocking (not really) outcome. Was 5 stars but....
I have to say if I had listened to this before book 2 came out I would have been outraged at the cliffy that was like a bomb went off and it ended! Thankfully I had them both and was able to go right into book 2. One other thing, I don't really know why this is 2 books. It's one story cut in half and sold as 2 when total it was only like 14 hours on audio. That works ok with ebooks but audiobooks are expensive and having to buy 2 to get a 14 hours story is hard to swallow no matter how amazing the story is.
The narration was FANTASTIC! Sebastian York was the perfect Rush. Maxine Mitch is also perfect for Gia! Loved the narration choice!

Unsure
Not completely sure how I feel about this one. Story started off great...then right as you get to the should be good part it took a nose dive. They could’ve allowed us a happy moment before but nope, totally robbed readers of that. Decided I was close enough to finished I’d listen to the rest even though I no longer cared for the storyline that fizzled out completely at this stage. Then after some boring chapters, came yet another twist that suddenly made it much more interesting, just as it ended on a cliff. I wanted to rate this book higher but the end did not live up to the beginning.

Love the book.Hate the cliffhanger!
The book was great. I don’t like the fact that it was ended as a cliffhanger.

what!?
I guess I didn't realize that this story was continued in the next book. I was so into it I was shocked when she said. the end...for now...I don't know how I'm gonna wait til May to get the next installment! So good. And of course the narration was awesome with Sebastian York and Maxine Mitchell . They pull you in and don't let loose! Fantastic listen!

OK
It was ok, not great. There's a turn towards the end, I wasn't expecting it, but the characters reacted in such an unrealistic way that it forced me to stop listening. I can't stand the way these characters were written to respond.

Really.
Here we go again. Another awesome book leaves you hanging. You greedy little authors. We will always enjoy your books without you leaving us in suspense. These authors need to get a grip and realize we can actually put them out of a job. So tired of these stupid cliffhangers. Well anywho. This book was definitely a good read. Sebastian York could read the newspaper and I would listen. Enjoyed the book.

Are these adults or ten year olds?
This story reads like a teenage fanfic. These grown adults are snapping and pouting at each other back and forth like fourteen year old kids. The main guy is supposed to have a reputation in being a "rebel" but I'm not seeing it at all. Is it because he has tatts? How does one get such a rep when all they do is good things? The main girl is annoying and talks way too much. I got to chapter 10 and put it down. I may pick it up later if I have nothing better to do. Voice acting is okay.

Best Performance Combo Yet
As always love these two Authors. The only way to make it better is the new combo in narration! Maxine and Sebastian are the best duo yet. Please oh please let them work together more!
