no pdf

I have the Japanese ear worm and it has an accompanying pdf, which makes it easier to learn this one doesn't seem to have one.

Very enjoyable, but also very short.

I loved listening to it it my car, but it was rather small in content.

Longe de ser perfeito (Far from perfect)

… but after listening a few times as a total non Portuguese (but reasonable Spanish) speaker it all fell into place.
I did work out a few pretty daft errors too. The phrase ‘something more’ being repeatedly used instead of ‘something’
Whilst you’d say Alguma coisa for something. If you said Alguma coisa para beber it would be Something else to drink. Similar to Algo Mas in Spanish. (Something in Spanish is just Algo) anyway. It’s hardly a big issue. There’s a couple more which only a fluent Portuguese speaker would take issue with … You get my drift. So if you have time to listed two this two hour audio three or four times it’s well worth it. Recommended

Likeable gimmick, but not the best system.

The addition of repetition to music seems like a sound way of learning a new language but, having tried multiple language systems over the years, I personally haven't found this to be one of the best. The narrators are pleasant, and with pretty standard content they do at least try to give you an understanding of how phrases are being constructed, but the added music over the experience has only served to distract me from the language, and sometimes makes it difficult to hear the vocab, so at the end of having listened to 2 volumes I can say that I've had a good dance around my kitchen, but I can't recall much Portuguese.
If you're intending on trying multiple languages, be forewarned that the music scheme is the same across each language package, so if you're hoping you can remember the content in relation to the song, you may find yourself getting crossed wires down the road.
Overall, a pleasant experience, but not much use if you seriously want to learn a language.

Great way to start learning European Portuguese

Would you consider the audio edition of Rapid Portuguese (European): Volumes 1 & 2 to be better than the print version?

I don't think there is a print version.

What did you like best about this story?

This is a really palatable introduction to Portuguese, for those people who are prepared to listen to it every day. I listened while I did housework or gardening, and was amazed how much I picked up.

What about Marlon Lodge’s performance did you like?

The 2 performers have pleasant voices that are easy to listen to again and again, which is crucial, because that is how this method works. They seem to have a good rapport with each other, and the conversation sounds natural even though it is clearly scripted. The music that accompanies the text is very helpful. Sometimes the words are repeated to the rhythm of the music, and that helps you to remember.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Not applicable. It isn't meant to listen to in one sitting.

I've tried several Portuguese audio courses, and this is by far the best. Easy to listen to and easy to pick up, and you can get a transcript online for those who like to know how words look as well as sound. When I went to Portugal 8 months after starting to listen to this course, I was amazed at how much I had picked up. I didn't expect to be able to speak, but I understood loads, which was great. I wish there were further levels in this course.

at last!

Finally a learn european portugese audio I can actually use, which is also fun and imaginative. Way beyond anything I've tried before, and I'm actually remembering some portugese to speak.

Overpowering background music

The background music overpowers what one has bought & is trying to listen to. By the end of chapter 6 my head was ringing & I couldn’t listen any longer.

The best I've tried (and there's been a few!)

I've tried in the past, with limited success, to learn French and Spanish.
This time it was to be Portuguese, so I tried a new method. I had heard some Michel Thomas french lessons before and i liked the method, but tended to lose interest or concentration.
The earworms method keeps your attention really well and you begin learning and putting things together really quickly. The couple who present the course have good and seemingly natural rapport with each other.
Give this a go, it'll be worth it

A fun and easy way to learn

I absolutely love these! There's a really nice warmth between the couple talking, and the music fits perfectly and really helps to embed the words and phrases in my memory.
