Summary
The Blackwood Pack saga continues...
This is part of an ongoing series by Amazon best-selling author Mary Rundle and catching up on previous titles is advised. Listeners or readers of the past books will enjoy meeting old friends once more as the pack does what it does best - caring for one another and helping shifters everywhere.
Dr. Ian Wallace, a rare Scottish wolf, has dedicated his life to saving and healing wolf shifters by joining Frontline Doctors. Determined never to take a mate, he avoids relationships and is content to live a nomadic life, taking assignments to wild and remote places. That is, until an old friend asks him for a favor, which Ian’s wolf will not let him refuse. Now on his way to the Blackwood Pack compound, his wolf becomes frantic, and Ian learns not only that he has a fated mate, but that his fated mate is in danger.
Colton was forced to give up his dreams of becoming a nurse and joining Frontline Doctors when tragedy befell his family. Instead, he healed sick animals around his home while hiding from a pack who wanted him dead. Given the chance to use his skills, Colton seizes it and embarks on a journey that will reveal just how special he is.
A kidnapping, slave auction, revelations of long-kept family secrets, and a rare, powerful gift from the gods are some of the surprises in store for both of them until they finally find their way into each other’s hearts after discovering neither is who the other thought he was.

Good story but don't like the narrator
I will be direct. I do not like this narrator. As he is American I have great difficulty with his attempts at accents. In other books he has made a terrible attempt at English accents and the "Scottish" accent he uses here - to my ear - sounds like Afrikaans half the time !!
I will accept that some will say this is just a personal preference, but I found I was struggling with following the story when he uses Iain's accent. I did find it improved a bit as the story progressed, but it resulted in me becoming confused.
As I type I am approaching the end of the book and just heard a classic mispronunciation - Gaelic is pronounced GALLIC, not GAY-LICK. It grates..
Getting on to the story. Yes it is a good listen and I enjoyed this, the second book in the series, and I will be giving the next a try as the characters develop and the story continues. What will happen with the 'evil' pack; will they succeed in their attempts to murder and land-grab? What will happen to the pup? Have the 'Fates' really decided what will happen throughout the future. All of that remains to be seen. The strength of the bonds between the brothers is great and you get a real feel of a Wolf Pack, caring for each other, jealous and totally protective. Oh and the sex scenes are quite good too !

Thrilling, magical, HOT, exciting
All the things! Nick J. Russo and Mary Rundle ate a match made in heaven as far as authors and narrators go. I loved the books in print form, and Nick give it just that extra special something to make it feel brand new again to listen to.

So, So Good
Nick did such another wonderful job bringing this story off the page and to life. I would recommend this audio to any fans of Mary’s Blackwood pack books. So looking forward to the next book.

Wish I enjoyed it more. Probably won’t continue series
Ugh! I want to like this series so much but I just don’t. Inconsistent characters, stupid decisions that make no sense, over dramatic reactions, cheesy sex, and contrived outcomes.
This had more action and danger in the beginning, and some tense situations which was an improvement on book 1 but still…
The head hopping was especially hard with the lack of voice differentiation in the narrator.

amazing 2nd book.
I am really enjoying these books. The connection that all the characters have with each other not just the fated mates.
As the story continues to unfold and we learn more about each person, the mates and the situation I fall a little more in love with the whole family
Once again, NJR does a fantastic job bringing these written words to life

Potential…
This series started good and had potential. But then it seem to like it turns silly like everything that happens is so over the top unreal even in a shifter universe, mixed in with a lot of hot scenes which is just as unrealistic who fix their issues in bed…

delete chapters 16-23
everything was going good, Plot progression of story characters felt, real the voice actor did an incredible job with what thy where given until chapter 16. It was at this point that things just started to go downhill. For the remainder of the book you feel like you're listening to the cliff notes of the original story the character's dialog and internal malnology just become unrealistic and you can't connect it with them, at all. The writing just gets bad. it's a shame to the story could have been really good. I just had a really hard time getting past the bad writing. I have read other books in the series and the writing was much better in those ones. I personally consider this volume the flop of the entire series.

Good story, average narration, iffy writing style
The writing style is too expositional for me. I'd like to learn things through events and actions, but this is mostly people talking to each other like they're reading from an essay. It's repetitive and unnatural imo. And sometimes the dialogue is super cheesy and melodramatic but that might just be me.
The narration is good, the emotions portrayed are alright, and the distinct voices used are decent, but I'd give the Scottish accent a 5 out of 10 Lol. It was a noble try but it could have been worse.
Despite these things, the plot and character relationships somehow keep reeling me into the next book.
