Need more!

Feels like the emergence of an epic fantasy! Thoroughly well written and enjoyable and I really hope to see more releases set in this world soon!
Great narration; all characters are well differentiated with good voices and the general reading is done very well too. Nigel has an essence of a theatrical sound to some of his reading but certainly not detrimental in any way.
Both author and Nigel are just a short step from achieving the 5 star rating, which possibly had the book been longer may have been given.
I liked the use of the sound effects, they were not overpowering as some can be.
All in all, highly enjoyable and would love to hear more from this pairing!!
This is my honest opinion of a free review copy.

Exciting Story!

I received this audio book for free in exchange for my honest review. The writing is fantastic. The narrator obviously loves what he does because does a great job! I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.

A Dark, Gritty, Exciting Adventure Fantasy

An exciting, engrossing, violent fantasy novella, Ranker’s Charge has all of the great stuff we want from adventure fantasy. There are rough, rude characters, grisly battles, and horrifying creatures. In a short space, Stevens builds a complex and original world. Carrying on the traditions of Robert E. Howard, S.P. Stevens’s Ranker’s Charge is sure to please fans of raw, dark fantasy adventures. The narration here is deliciously sinister and macabre, perfectly suited to the content.

A fun but short adventure.

I don’t usually like dramatization in audiobooks but this one balances it really well and I enjoyed it. Interesting characters are the main strength of the story with the limited world building making it feel like a prequel. The world itself reminds me of Dragon Age with the unbound being reminiscent of the darkspawn. Overall it was a fun but brief ride but I’d be interested in what happens next.

Ok story

The story was interesting in this book, but I never could get into it and just really want to listen to this book. The narrator was very good, but I don't really enjoy when audiobooks put in sound effects and music at every turn/chapter.
I would give this author and narrator another go, but this really wasn't one of my favorite books. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't my favorite.

This review copy audiobook was provided by the author/narrator/publisher free of charge.

Excellently gritty and rank

The world is rich and deep. It reminds me a little of Glen Cook's Black Company. This book is clearly a setup for a longer epic. I'm looking forward to that tale. My only complaint is that it was over too soon.

Great quick fantasy

Overall I enjoyed this book. It has one of my triggers which is dog fighting. I had a hard time getting past that and skipped two chapters to make sure I was past it. But the storyline was good the narration was amazing. Kiprik is more complex then I first thought. Lots of action and good plot kept me interested all the way to the end.

A really good story and it draws you in from the first page. If you get a chance to listen to the audio version you'll definitely enjoy it. It's really good so if and when you get a chance pick up a copy and check it out. You really won't be disappointed.

Kilpatrick definitely a survivor.

fighting miasma and trying to keep his men together, Kilpatrick had his hands full. The ending was a cliff hanger. Good read
