Summary

Ramayana must rank as one of the most loved and revered books of all time. A part of India's ancient Vedas, it is a beautiful story of romance and adventure. It recounts the history of Rama, said be an incarnation of the Godhead, and his divine consort Sita.

Filled with magic and mysticism, it entrances the listener and stirs deeply moving emotions. At the same time its profound spiritual messages leave one feeling uplifted and enriched. This is a novelization of the classic. It contains all the essential narrative of the original Sanskrit poem, but written in a contemporary style.

Whilst adhering closely to the original, I have used the techniques of character development and dramatization to draw the listener into the action. By weaving in other spiritual commentaries on this sacred text, I have also tried to offer the listener the benefit of the wisdom of India's seers and sages.

As I am sure you will discover when your listen to the book, that wisdom is as relevant in today's stressful world as it was thousands of years ago, when it was first written. It was my love for this wonderful book which prompted me to write my adaptation, and I hope I have been able to share that love with others.

Revolution for Righteousness - Ramayana

Krishna Dharma’s Ramayana, is enlightening entertainment with themes of ‘a hero’s journey’...and indeed a heroine’s. Themes of love, loyalty, romance, duty, tragedy, tension, battles between forces of good and evil, friendship, deep parental affection, brotherhood and sisterhood, the equality of all living beings, and much much more, all centred securely on goodness and grace. Why is this narration rare? It is because outwardly, it appears to be entertainment. But inwardly, if you allow it to, it can transform the entertainment, into the evolution of your character and consciousness. You can reach a higher and happier level of awareness and being. The invaluable lessons and lives, of the powerful personalities mentioned, can become your daily meditation. That part of you, who has a higher potential, can be fully realised and experienced, if you enthusiastically welcome the deeper messages of the Ramayana, into your mind, intellect and heart. A successful person, is one who can be brave and courageous, like many characters in the Ramayana. Inspired by their exceptional examples, we can also resolve conflicts and experience more joy, peace, love and trust, in our relationships with each other: as family, friends, colleagues at work, local communities and a global society. And so the true benefit of hearing the Ramayana, lies in its application to our daily lives. I know I have gained by applying it to my life already...and that is just from one hearing! I am looking forward to hearing it again or reading the book, for the pages and repeated hearings of the Ramayana, will no doubt remain ever-fresh and new. Krishna Dharma’s version is unique and different from other versions, as any literary work, is only as powerful as the real person behind its writing. Having been fortunate to meet Krishna Dharma and his good wife Cintamani a few times in person, I can see their lives align with the teachings and treasures found within the Ramayana. Thank you sincerely Krishna Dharma, with folded palms of gratitude !

Way too shouty

The narration was a shouting rather than a reading. Found this less enjoyable than the Mahabharata by the same author

Incredible story

Full of action, heroism, & a comprehensive look at moralities and life in Ancient times, the Ramayana is a riveting story you will not want to stop listening to. Regardless of a few typos, and microphone movements, this story will have your mind whirring as you witness the epic saga of Ram in your mind. Victory to Ram!!!

The author has killed the emotive aspect

serious emissions from the original tale leaves the listener confused. AVOID.... Sad that liberties are taken on such a great tale

The narration and recording is poor.

You can hear someone hitting the mic once in a while. You can also hear him stressing on words that shouldn't be stressed upon. His pronunciation isn't the best of simple English words.

Excellent presentation

Highly recommended. if you enjoy epic sagas, then this is right up that alley. Aside from being an important manuscript to more than a billion people, the adventurous storyline itself is worth a listen.

The Ramayana: Karma. Dharma. Destiny.

The epic tale of the Ramayana will keep you enthralled, engaged, and reminded of the three words in my title. It is a powerful and moving story of Rama, his consort, Sita, and a cast of characters that will have you cheering or weeping as each segment unfolds. It is pithy with spiritual wisdom and warnings, and a sage reminder of why living a dharmic life is key to everything we experience. May all who read this epic story be blessed by its teachings and revelations.

Missed key points in story

A blunt treatment of Ravanne. Lacked his extreme penance to receive Brahma boon. Read Henry version instead. Much more nuanced
