Story
I thought the threat from Seattle was finished. That we showed up in time and took care of business. I hate being wrong. It really ruins my day. When Roger, the alpha of the North American pack, shows up at my door with the news that a demon has made it to the Underworld with knowledge of me, some hard decisions have to be made. Do I stay above ground, with all my magical friends, and wait for the battle to come to me? Or do I seek the demon out, and pluck the threat out by the root? I don't want my friends to die on my behalf.

Story
Some people are ordained for greatness. Those people usually have a lot of drama in their life. Drama I happily do without. I live in a forgotten corner of nowhere for a reason: there is safety in anonymity. I have enough problems just trying to get by. But when Kieran, a sinfully sexy demigod at the pinnacle of power, crashes into my life, suddenly my whole world is turned upside down. He’s harboring a deadly secret, one that could destroy all he holds dear. He thinks I’m the key to his salvation, and he wants me to help him claim vengeance. He also wants me with a passion.

"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

A place so dangerous, they don’t guarantee you’ll make it out alive. If he doesn't go, our entire family will be killed. Summary
The exciting continuation of the top 10 Amazon best seller by USA Today best-selling author, K.F. Breene!
It is a common truth in my life that when it rains, it pours.
The killings that once plagued New Orleans are cropping up again in Seattle. The local office is stumped. I'm called out to lend a fresh set of eyes and my unique magical touch.
It's only when I get there that I realize the Seattle office isn't stumped at all.
They're being silenced by the Mages' Guild, a corrupt magical institution that doesn't want word to get out of what is plaguing the city. Worse, news of my magic might've slipped down to the underworld, hitting the ears of some extremely powerful demons.
What I thought was a routine murder investigation turns into a fight for my life. With the help of Darius, my stalker elder vampire, and my dual-mage sidekicks, I somehow have to dodge the Guild in order to stop one of the most powerful demons I've ever encountered. If I don't? It'll escape back down below with proof of what I really am.
My life hangs in the balance, and, this time, I can't see a way out.

Excellent story and performance
Enjoyed this trilogy very much. As usual, I couldn't put it down so sadly finished it too quickly :( This set is linked to the others written by BF Breene, and you find connected characters, all very enjoyable. I'm looking forward to more from this author and Nichole Poole is excellent at narrating. Well done!

Can't finish.
While the audiobook narrator is excellent, the characters and their behavior/responses just seem overly unrealistic. The protagonist is so full of violence, threats and "badass-ery" it feels like a front for insecurity (especially since there aren't any/very few moments of real truthful feeling), so we don't get to relate or feel for the hero - which doesn't feel like the intention. Instead it's an echochamber with few layers.
It's far from the worst, but with a solid concept and storyline, the feeling of almost getting there is too frustrating for me to continue reading.

Another Action-Packed Urban Fantasy Story.
Another Action Packed Instalment in This Magical Urban Fantasy Trilogy.
I am already a fan of Ms Breene's writing style and love the complexities of her characters, the pace of her plots and the way she balances the fighting, horror and brutal violence with the humorous sarcasm, promise of love and uplifting hope in her stories.
I really enjoyed Raised in Fire and liked how the mystery and political intrigued kept me guessing, the plot twists had me breathless at times wondering what would happen next - I like it when unexpected things happen and an author can surprise me - and I loved how the relationships between the various characters evolved through this book, although at times, I found the sarcasm bordering on rudeness which irked a wee bit.
Once again, I downloaded the narration by Nicole Poole and was blown away by her performance; the way she read the narrative, the tonal variations she used during the different scenes and the voices she gave the characters. She transported me into the story.
I can't wait to read (& listen to) the final book in this addictive trilogy.

Reagan is bored and that's NEVER a good thing!
This book rocked! This is #2 in the 3 book run of Fire and Ice series. There is swearing. There is death. There are monsters. There is tricks and conspiracies. All those things, but mostly just the last 4 will give you a hint there are vampires as well. There isn't a cliffhanger, but a lead in to the next book. There is some graphic stuff but not horror graphic.
I can't say enough good about this series so far except I will be sad when I get through the last book. Reagan is someone I'd like to hang with and see what trouble she land in next. Her dad is Lucifer. She's supposed to reign in hell. She doesn't want to. She's great at the bounty hunter job she has in the brink and she doesn't want to be noticed by the demons bent on bringing her into her daddy's inner circle. Well, they could also use her to their own ends too. I mean, they are demons, you know.
And then there is the vampire stalker. Oh, he doesn't think he's a stalker. For some reason, even unknown to the elder vampire himself, he is pulled to Reagan like a magnet. Darius doesn't like the feelings she's stirring up in him. He's a vampire for goodness sake. He's not supposed to have feelings, but Reagan is pulling him back to his humanity. It's really a fun journey. Reagan and Darius work so well together, it would be a shame to split them.
This story is exactly as the description claims and it was an adventure full of discovery and death.

Narrator is fantastic but story was flat to me
I really wanted to like this series but I could hardly finish the 2nd book. I wish there was more romance in it but instead it was a lot of Reagan being Reagan. You couldn't even tell if she liked Darius or not because she fought like hell not to. They just didn't seem to fit well together inspite of Darius starting to be sweet and getting a sence of humor. And honestly, I was getting real tired of her constant sass about everything!!! She was a great fighter and stood up for herself but come on, stop with the 24/7 smart a** remarks. It was tiring.

Oooh snap!!!
Regan, Regan, Regan.... whoa doggies!
Y’all about for a magic carpet ride. This story was action packed, intense and a whole lot of crazy all wrapped up in a cozy little ball of fire. Haha.
I love the build up of the relationship Regan has with Callie and Dizzy. It’s a little off but full of respect and love. They don’t say it but it’s there. When Regan gets a job that will take her out of New Orleans, the dual mages tag along... and ya know, so does Darius.
The vampire has it bad. He’s not ashamed to put all of his cards on he table either. It’s a little unnerving and a whole mess of “oh craps” but honestly, the two of them, the crazy more than a human bounty hunter and the master vampire make a team that’s pretty much unstoppable... in the right situations.
There is something a miss around them, trouble is brewing but this time they have no idea it’s coming for them. That could lead to some trouble they may not be ready for... so now... I need more. Onto the next book!

Why Seattle?
This is settling in to be a fun, if familiar, series about vampires, weres, faeres and demons. The vampire love story gives me Buffy/Angel vibes without the high school drama (a plus, in my opinion). Also done before is the idea of MC being a totally unique, uber powerful being that will feature prominently in the multi-book story arc. Even the mystery procedural part feels a lot like many an urban fantasy series. Still, despite the familiar, there’s enough spark and snark to make these great popcorn matinee listens.
Random thoughts: I love Poole as a narrator, but Poole’s voice is too middle-aged for twenty-something Regan, and it makes it hard to keep this separate from the Magical Midlife series involving this same author/narrator duo. The language and the nooky stay in the Buffy/Angel zone. The setting leaves New Orleans and lands in Seattle, but just like book 1, the environment and culture of the locales aren’t capitalized on at all

Excellent
The last 2 chapters leave you screaming, craving for more!! Thankfully the whole series is out. This is my second time reading and it's even better than the first. Reagan is finally seeing Darius for what he is, not just a vampire but someone who cares for her. Her friends are there to help stop the underworld from finding out who she really is. Epic!!!

This Series is so much fun to listen to!!
I really like the MC Reagan she is a bullheaded, but moxie woman who does not put up with much. Darius is a arrogant Vampire who just will not leave Reagan alone. He has his minions break into Reagan's home to clean it and stock the refrigerator and pantry against her Express demands to Stop it. Narrator does a Great job with the characters voices and the entire storyline.

Meh...Been Here Before
Let me start by saying I absolutely LOVE Breene's Magical Midlife series, and Nicole Poole's voice is smooth as silk.
That said, this is my second try with this series and I'm just...just not feelin' it babe.
So the heroine is (literally) fiery, the hero (?) is a hot vampire, there's some supernatural baddies and blah, blah, blah.
Been there, done that, nothing new.
