(P)2017 Hazy Dawn Press, Inc.I am already a fan of Ms Breene's writing style and love the complexities of her characters, the pace of her plots and the way she balances the fighting, horror and brutal violence with the humorous sarcasm, promise of love and uplifting hope in her stories.
I really enjoyed Raised in Fire and liked how the mystery and political intrigued kept me guessing, the plot twists had me breathless at times wondering what would happen next - I like it when unexpected things happen and an author can surprise me - and I loved how the relationships between the various characters evolved through this book, although at times, I found the sarcasm bordering on rudeness which irked a wee bit.
Once again, I downloaded the narration by Nicole Poole and was blown away by her performance; the way she read the narrative, the tonal variations she used during the different scenes and the voices she gave the characters. She transported me into the story.
I can't wait to read (& listen to) the final book in this addictive trilogy.
