About this listen

A quilting calamity and a string of clues. Can Alex untangle the knots before she’s keeled?

After the death of her beloved grandmother, Alex Bailey’s life is left in tatters. As she struggles to stitch things back together, she takes solace in one final gift - a cruise - booked before the quilting matriarch's death. To weave the quilting community back together, Alex convinces her friends on Spruce Street to join her on the cruise.

With all hands on deck, a mysterious quilt and an unknown destination, she must trust that everything will go according to the plan. Until a death onboard the Tranquility puts a wrinkle in Alex’s idyllic quilting vacation. Unraveling the mysterious threads that surround the young man’s death, Alex must determine if it's a terrible accident, or death by design. Determined to catch the culprit, she loosens the knot of suspicion and provides the bait needed to hook a ruthless killer.

Will Alex be able to follow the pattern and untangle this nautical mystery before there's a storm at sea?

I enjoyed this book. This is the second book in this series and continues from where the last book left off and because the author also names the killer from the previous book, I would recommend you read the books in order. The book contains two cleverly woven mysteries in this book/series to keep the read entertained. One that gets solved in this book (who killed Arthur) and a second one that continues in the next book (the Secrets and scheming Nona did before she died), this seems to work well for the series because it keeps you guessing. In the first book I didn't really take to the victim (Nana) but the more we get to know her and her secrets the more I change my mind about her. Once again the characters are quirky enough to be entertaining and fun. The mystery was good and with a number of twist and secrets played out nicely. I loved that most of the story took place on a cruise ship which was easy to picture as the drama unfolded. I can't wait for the next book and to see what Nona has in store for everybody next.
Alex wants to carry out her adopted grandmothers final wishes, one take everybody from Spruce on a cruise with an un named destination but all paid for by Nona and two find the mysterious Henrietta and give her the especially designed quilt. Things are off to a good start and everybody is enjoying the sewing lessons arranged by Nona. That is until the teenage boy who be friended the youngest member from the street ends up dying. Joey turns to Alex to find out happened to him. Alex is reluctant to get involved instead she wants to concentrate on the clues and keys Nona left behind and solve the Henrietta mystery but when the evidence points to the teenager being murdered, Alex can't help but get involved. Can she find his killer? And solve Nona's clues?
I liked the narrator and think she was a good choice to play the part of Alex and her friends because she put in a good performance by using different voices.
