Summary

In this gripping New Zealand thriller, New York Times best-selling author Nalini Singh takes you into the twisted world of an exclusive cul-de-sac.

My mother vanished 10 years ago.

So did a quarter of a million dollars in cash.

Now, she's back.

Her bones clothed in scarlet silk.

When socialite Nina Rai disappeared without a trace, everyone wrote it off as another trophy wife tired of her wealthy husband. But now her bones have turned up in the shadowed green of the forest that surrounds her elite neighborhood, a haven of privilege and secrets that's housed the same influential families for decades.

The rich live here, along with those whose job it is to make their lives easier. And somebody knows what happened to Nina one rainy night 10 years ago. Her son Aarav heard a chilling scream that night, and he's determined to uncover the ugly truth that lives beneath the moneyed elegance...but no one is ready for the murderous secrets about to crawl out of the dark.

And the dead don't keep secrets.

A satisfying mystery

Another murder mystery from Nalini Singh, this time set among the super-rich of an exclusive Auckland enclave - a very different side of New Zealand to the one depicted in A Madness of Sunshine. I wasn't sure about this one at first and found all the various neighbours a bit tricky to differentiate, but it got better as it went along and ultimately I enjoyed it. I liked the reader's rather deadpan delivery, which perfectly suited the emotionally detached narrator of the story. More NZ crime please!

Great book !!!!

Nalini Singh has done it again !!! Not fast passed but lots of twists and turns. Aarav is an interesting character. I thought I had it all figured out, the guy is crazy, the end is obvious.... yeah, nah 😅.
Great performance by the narrator.
