Broad coverage of R data analysis tools

The authors are mercifully brief in their explanations but generous in the code samples supplied. They focus on important details but don't get bogged down in minutia, giving excellent references to on-line material for additional information. I am still in the process of reading the text, but so far the coverage has been excellent. I am new to the R code base, so this book is a treasure trove. The print quality of the book is also refreshingly high, with carefully chosen fonts and effective use of color.

Excellent, straightforward review of key concepts

This book gets right to the point, and explains relevant statistical concepts in straightforward, easy to follow language. It is exactly what I was looking for. I was glad that the authors started at the literal beginning, but the pace and efficiency of writing allow the reader to come up to speed quickly. Well done.

Very cursory glance important data science topics

While this book seems to cover the bulk of important topics for data science, there is a lot of hand-waving and relegation of explanation to external documents for readings in order to comprehend topics. I would recommend the book if you are generally interested in learning about data science, but I would strongly recommend pursuing the deeper dives necessary to actually learn the subject matter.

I love this book as a reference

I love this book as a reference. Clear, efficient but detailed explanations. It is not designed as a textbook but as a reference. When I wonder "what is that test used for again?" or "what was that formula?" this is the first thing I reach for. Sure, Google has become universal for that too, but I like having a single hard copy reference that I can get to know and that becomes a trustworthy old friend. This book is taking on that role for me.

A must have in your library

I have read many books on Machine Learning (ML) and I am also a reviewer for several AI journals and conferences. This book is one of the best in terms of explaining the theory in simple terms and very valuable from the perspective of the practical knowledge you may get from it. After reading it, I am sure you can start right away building real-world ML products.

Really good for a beginner on ML

Just started the book but I have to say that so far I found it to be amazingly explanatory and clear in its examples. I didn't have any previous knowledge on ML but the concepts were introduced in an intuitive manner. The practical examples also help to demonstrate the potential of the applications of ML.

The best one for beginners

An excellent starter for those who want to get hands-on with creative projects. Really loved the approach " End-to-end Machine Learning project" - this gives you an overview / big picture of the whole scenario, so that you understand the details before jumping deep with a particular ML algorithm.
Certainly recommend this!
