NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL FILM! When a soldier with a troubled past and a struggling songwriter agree to get married for the military benefits, neither expects much after saying “I do.” What happens when a marriage of convenience is anything but?

Cassie Salazar and Luke Morrow couldn’t be more different. Sharp-witted Cassie works nights at a bar in Austin to make ends meet while pursuing her dream of becoming a singer/songwriter. Luke is an Army trainee, about to ship out for duty, who finds comfort in the unswerving discipline of service. But a chance encounter at Cassie’s bar changes the course of both their lives, and within forty-eight hours, this opposites-attract pair finds themselves husband and wife.

How did that happen?

Cassie is drowning in medical bills after being diagnosed with diabetes. When she runs into her old friend Frankie, now enlisted in the Army, she proposes a deal: she’ll marry him in exchange for better medical insurance and they can split the increased paycheck that comes with having a “family.” When Frankie declines, his attractive but frustratingly intense friend Luke volunteers to marry Cassie instead. What she doesn’t know is that he has desperate reasons of his own to get married. In this unforgettable military romance, Cassie and Luke must set aside their differences to make it look like a real marriage...unless, somewhere along the way, it becomes one... A story that brings out the best in the characters and brings to light the struggles of what they’re going through.

A little bit of magic and a following if dreams and determination.

A good love story!

I much preferred the movie, it was cute and enjoyable. The book was okay… many of the characters were annoying in the book and i’m so glad they dropped the Toby storyline for the film. I found the narrator for Cassie a little monotonous.

It was okay.

As I really loved the film on Netflix, I thought way not.. Buy it. There is more details than the film, so if you have watched it, then you need to read this too.

Fabulous read

…as to how a successful movie with likeable characters was based on this book. Book Cassie, Luke and even her Mum are so unbearable in the book, I am so glad they dropped the Toby and Oxy storyline for the movie.
Also the narrator for Cassie just doesn’t suit the narrative, she sounds far too mature to be a believable Cassie, which really got on my nerves.

Baffled….

I loved the story. I loved the messy, unconventional, unexpected journey this audiobook took me on. Cassie and Luke had a marriage of convenience that ends up being much more. Both have difficult pasts, and both have issues in the present. This wasn't a nice and clean, traditional romantic story, and I enjoyed it because of that, as it definitely wasn't predictable.

I really enjoyed the narration in this audiobook.
