Summary
Fight like a girl...or a shifter of lore.
After growing up with nothing, I've finally found my path to freedom: I'm a shifter, an elite soldier who transforms into a monster. All I have to do is survive.
I didn't count on my three 6'5 roommates. Covered in tattoos, jeweled, and horned, these are like no men I've ever dealt with before. They don't think I belong. They don't think I'm strong enough for war. They don't think I can fight.
I'm about to prove them wrong.
The only problem, can I survive them discovering the secrets of my past? In the battle for life and death, everyone is so much more than they seem. Jax, Ascher, and Cobra are going to be devastated when they discover my truth...just wait until they see my shifted form.

Fantastic
This book does not go disappoint. In fact I found it better. I have read and re-read this book a few times but I will be listening to it over and over again now instead of reading. I felt like I was in the story with the characters as part of the “gang”. The narrator was fantastic and put feelings into her descriptions which helped me a lot as I have a problem with my eyes at the moment and I miss reading. I found that I missed some of the story when reading. Can’t wait for the next book out in audio. Will certainly buy it asap.

Great RH paranormal slow burn
I've read all of the author's books and this time I wanted to listen to the audio version.
I agree with one reviewer that description focuses primarily on body features - you're reading a hot RH book so it's bound to happen but true, it can be a bit much at time. I didn't notice it when reading the book version so it doesn't distract from the storyline. Also, the writing in the subsequent books gets a lot better.
I would recommend sticking with it because it gets really amazing. full of action, surprises, slow burn hot stuff.

I hands down did not expect to love this so much
OK, loved all of this!!!
Sadie is funny, sassy, and sweet. Here, inner dialogue is so innocent in her simple way of looking at things. Like wanting to be good at hugs so she can be a better friend. Even her self illusion of herself, as she thinks she's what people who want to keep her down have said to her, that's she's less than. Oh, and her numb!!! Crazy ruthless and so funny!
The MMCs are all dealing with darkness in their own way, but boy do they need a telling, the way they treat Sadie would make any woman self conscious, without being a woman who has gone through what she has. Yet their POV helps us to see their own inner struggle to not be alphaholes... even if they fail at that task.
Spice is great, and I'm surprised no smut is not instantly used with Sadie. But also very happy, it builds on the whole world and characters more. Now I feel so invested. I was so invested, when I saw the series carries on with Ahren, Sadie younger sister I instantly wasn't sure if I want to know her story when I like this one so much...but I'm sure the series will ease her character in and I will be just as hooked.
Contains:
Action
Smut
Funny lols
Dark abuse
Faie, shifters in an omegaverse world
War
Alphaholes, Betaholes, and allholes!!!

I am so angry
The cliffhanger is so frustrating, because I was hanging onto EVERY word. I did NOT expect this to happen and now I just want to scream. Amazing narrating as well!

These guys are not making the Book Boyfriend list
I listened to all three books as Booktok had me believing it was brilliant. I’ve read/listened to a fair few books in this genre with the same tropes, not all of them good, but the level of cringe in this book was unparalleled.
I don’t know if it’s the narrator or the writing style but for a book with a foursome/fivesome in it, I’d think the writing style would be above middle school level. Sadie is 20, fair enough, but some of these men are a hundred years old and have the emotional intelligence of a rock. And when they’re manhandling her and talking trash (all being annoying as hell), it just doesn’t land as intended and it’s just cringe. It grated on my nerves big time. The men felt stereotypical, cliche and one dimensional and just could’ve been written better.
Sadie on the other hand is fairly likeable. I liked her type of humour and her dynamic with Arin. And it’s quite refreshing to see a heroine with lots of flaws (mainly her physical strength and combat skills) that don’t just magically disappear after one book.
It also makes no sense that Sadie only learns of her purpose at the end of book 3. Her time as a main character is done (next 3 books are about Arin) but she still needs to lead armies and win a war? How can she not be a main character when she has like the entire plot to finish?? I don’t know and don’t particularly care as I’m not wasting 3 credits to find out.
Overall, none of these guys are making the book boyfriend list but Sadie was alright so it wasn’t a complete waste of time.
