One rule: No more men. Two years ago I walked away from a marriage I thought would last forever and all I got from it was Dick…And I don’t mean the one between my stupid ex’s legs. I’m talking about the 150 pound furry dog said ex dropped off at my doorstep. But I’d take Dick over any man, any day. So why did I resemble my dog, panting and drooling, whenever I ran into Hudson West, my sexy new neighbor? True, the gorgeous veterinarian was hotter than sin. And my new roommate only made it impossible for me to avoid conversation with a man I didn’t need.

The job at Sunday Orchard was supposed to be temporary. A chance to gain some work experience, to have some fun. I had not expected to be welcomed into a family of gorgeous and weirdly efficient lumberjack-types, or to find purpose in the tiny Vermont town whose claim to fame seemed to be apple-based products and copious amounts of charm. And I most definitely hadn’t expected to fall for Knox Sunday, my grumpy, burly, fifteen-years-older, reluctant roommate, with his infuriating lectures, his hot-as-fire body, his superior attitude - I’ve never been one to put down roots.

"Look out for Zach, and don't hit on him." My brother's request sounds easy enough. Keep an eye out for his best friend on campus and keep my hands to myself. Easy. Even if Zach is a quintessential nerd, who I've always thought was cute, I don't have the time to think with my...stick. There's only one stick I should be focused on this year, and that's my hockey stick. My goal once I graduate is to get an NHL contract. The last thing I need is a distraction. On or off the ice. Summary
Dalton Andrews has seen it all. After spending a little over 10 years with the Denver PD, he’d had enough and joined Wildlife Services, not expecting it to be such an isolating career. When his job takes him on assignment to Crooked Bend, he jumps at the chance to work with actual people again when the town’s sheriff needs to hire a few more deputies. While at his new boss’ wedding reception, he unexpectedly meets a blue-eyed architect that makes his brain go fuzzy.
Collin McKenzie has trust issues. After countless bad experiences, culminating in spending over a year hidden in the closet by his ex, he decided enough was enough. He not only broke up with him but he moved to a different state to start fresh. He loves working for the Welsh brothers and living in Wyoming puts him closer to his family. He’s sworn off men, but while attending a wedding, he sees a dark-haired man that makes him catch his breath.
After spending an unforgettable night together, Collin mistakenly lumps Dalton in with his past experiences. Things are awkward between them, but the attraction is there and undeniable, so they agree to give it a try. But when Collin’s ex finds him in Wyoming and won’t take no for an answer, Dalton steps up and claims what he wants - Collin. But will he be able to protect the man he’s quickly falling hard for? And will Collin ever trust him enough to let him in?
Protecting My Commitment is the first book in the Sulfur Springs series. This is a Men of Crooked Bend spin-off, but it isn’t a requirement that you listen to that series to enjoy this one. Familiar faces will be seen, but this series takes you off of the ranch and into the lives of those in Sulfur Springs. While each book focus’ on a different couple and may be listened to as a stand-alone, you will receive maximum enjoyment listening to them in order. Each book contains sexually explicit material between two men and is intended for adults over 18 years of age.

A Sweet Romance
Protecting My Commitment is the first book in the Sulfur Springs series. This series seems to be a spin-off from the Men of Crooked Bend series, which I haven’t read, and although I can definitely tell that some of the characters have more history than is depicted in this book, I never felt confused or lost during the story.
Protecting my Commitment was just an average romance. The characters had some immature relationship issues which seemed a little flimsy to make such a huge plot point, especially in the beginning. I did like the drama with the stalker—it was over the top, but I enjoyed the drama and the protective streak that came out. This is one of those books that hits on different tropes and gives the reader a huge dose of fluff and sass which I found satisfying. I liked this book and it was easy to read and had me interested in the next book in the series.
The audiobook was narrated by Michael Dean who did a fantastic job like always. Michael voiced all the characters wonderfully and gave us a perfect performance. The audiobook production was nicely done and overall I liked the audiobook.

Collin and Dalton
In this first book of the new spinoff series we meet up with Dalton, the sexy man who works at the Sheriff department and Collin the architect. They hook up at Jacob and Isacs wedding very much attracted to each other. But the road to happiness is far from easy until Collins ex starts stalking him. Soon it gets very serious with the threads and Collins whole family swoops in on the hunt for the one man that is a danger to both of them. But it also brings them together and to realise that they want to have a future together. In their fight against the ex who hired a gun man to get rid of Collin, Dalton almost looses his life. It is a great story and narrated very well by Michael Pauly. After book 1 you just want to dive in the next one.

Dalton and Collin 💚💙
The start of a new series is always exciting with big expectations. Dalton the Sheriff’s deputy spends a night with Collin at a wedding. Their chemistry is hot but will they build a relationship? While they are at it, a crazy ex decides to make a comeback and Collins family comes back to the rescue. I loved the family dynamics and how well Dalton fits. Awesome narrator too.

Great book.
This is my first time reading/listening to a Taylor Rylan book, but won't be my last.
Small town Deputy Sheriff Dalton and an Architect Colin have issues not just with each other but with themselves.
This book has a few twists to it, and some sad moments, but I have to say I had jaw ache from smiling so much when I finished reading this book. Can't wait to read book two in this series.

as great as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Michael Pauley is one of the 8 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

Excellent narration, very good story
I listened to this as an audiobook, and Michael Pauley is a dream narrator for me. His voice is so amazing, and he did really well with this book.
I liked this story. It took me a while to really get into it. Dalton and Collin have one night together, but Collin thinks Dalton left and freaks out. Unfortunately, Dalton sees Collin's freak out session and decides he should just leave. When Collin sees him out again, Dalton won't really give him a chance. Now I can understand this. They met once, didn't go well, and he doesn't want to continue on. But Collin has some kind of guilt or something that makes him want to keep apologizing. And Dalton has some kind of bad attitude that makes him want nothing to do with him. Except that he can't stop thinking about him. I felt like I was watching a yo-yo for a bit there. It didn't make sense, and I really couldn't see how they came together in the beginning.
That said, once they finally got together, they were totally sweet. Yes, I did have to wonder how the heck their relationship was able to move forward so quickly after the yo-yo, but it worked for them. There was some mystery/drama involved, and I liked how it played out.
Great potential for more in this series. Hopefully we can see Collin and Dalton a lot more stable in the future. Don't get me wrong, I believe 100% in their HEA, but they really know so little about each other and how they function together that it would be cool to see them more settled.

Meh
There is a chapter where the author changes her mind about where the characters are in time and space...it will make your head spin. These characters are not shifters, with the whole true mate thing...but the author has these characters fall in love with eachother without the build up! I don't really need that much, but I do need a story that is consistent and believable. Buy at your own risk!

I really tried....
The best way to describe this for me was cring-ey. I can't for the life of me figure out where all the great reviews are coming from. Unbelievable insta-love. Unbelievable story-line. And for god's sake, stop using the characters names in EVERY sentence! I gave it so many chances and in the end I couldn't finish. I'm not a huge Michael Pauley fan to begin with, but sometimes I can endure. This is one of the examples of why I dislike him. He's too dramatic, especially in these roles. I'm returning this and won't probably read anything else from this author.

What the heck did I just listen to
Ok so the good, narrator did a good job. The storyline had good potential if developed a bit more. Now the bad. I can accept insta love but just when you think they're getting it together they fight about the dumbest thing imaginable, don't talk or communicate or even get to know each other but hey let's get married. The pace and timeline was choppy and too fast. Disappointed because I did like the characters.

Unlikable MC, felt... unfinished?
I tried. But no, it wasn't my cuppa.
The main characters felt plastic, especially Collin. He was immature, and irritating. It felt like his personality profile was modeled after a self-esteem challenged pre-teen.
The writing felt uneven and unfinished. Too many random gaps and jumps in the storyline. No lead-in to major plot points.
MCs misunderstand each other, get huffy, refuse to communicate and spend the initial part of the book repeating this cycle (over and over) and sulking. Then, major jump! Lets get married! Wait... What?
Ok... Kept listening...
There's a random bad guy. With no lead in. Just... Plot moving bad guy.
Bad guy is about to do very bad thing.... and instead of communicating with his unaware, in danger partner, the MC... silently runs at his husband to save him? Not shouting warnings? No allowing his husband to have agency of his own? To make his own reaction choices? Nope. You just stand there in unaware danger and I'll attempt to save you! No need for me to tell you you're in danger!
A final minor irritant... the animals. It feels like they're a part of the story because... the target reading audience is women of a certain age who most likely like horses and dogs. Not that they help move the plot, just... women like horses, right? Yeah. Let's make this character own a horse. And write about mucking the stall and feeding it. Yeah, chicks dig horses.
All in all, this felt like unfinished fan-fiction that got published.
Plus side! The narrator was professional and did his job well.

Great start to the series
A bad experience with love has Collin weary of his new found man. Can he learn to trust Dalton? Can Dalton protect Collin from a dangerous past love? I so enjoyed the story line, characters, and narration. Highly recommend the book and can't wait to continue the series.
