Summary

Nominated in Best Female Narrator at the Audie Awards 2020.

She must fight to prove herself...before it's too late.

DCI Jane Tennison came through the ranks the hard way, opposed and resented at every step by her male colleagues.

When a prostitute is found murdered in her bedsit, the Metropolitan police set to work finding the perpetrator of this brutal attack. DNA samples lead them straight to known criminal George Marlow. The police think they've found their man, but things are not quite what they seem....

Desperate to remove all doubt around her suspect, Tennison struggles to make the charges stick. And then a second body turns up.

With the team against her, DCI Jane Tennison is in a race against time to catch a dangerous criminal - and prove she's just as tough as any man.

Baseded on the award-winning TV series starring Helen Mirren, the complete and unabridged Prime Suspect trilogy is now available for the first time in audio.

A Master at Work

Lynda la Plant is called the queen of crime drama and she definitely deserves that title. Her writing is so detailed, the characters incredibly well written and rounded out.

I know this story so well from watching it on tele, but to get to listen to the book gives you much more chance to take in the nuances portrayed.

Highly recommended.

Just like the TV drama

The TV show Prime Suspect is a classic.
I thought the book might have hidden depths but it is literally an audible version of the tv show
Nothing wrong with that, but don’t, like me, expect anything more.

Great!

Loved this, totally brought the visual of the story to life. Fantastic narration, I would have liked all of Lynda’s books to have had the same narrator. Will go to the second in the series now.

Excellent

I remember watching these series on television decades ago. To my pleasant surprise, the stories have not aged and are equally gripping. The narrator is fabulous. I can almost hear Helen Mirren. On to the next book in the series. So looking forward to that.

Brilliant narration

Brilliant narration really brings this story to life. All the characters are discernible from one another - Rachel Atkins has Helen Mirren’s voice down to a T. The plot of the book is as punchy as the TV show. I will definitely be buying other audiobooks by the writer and narrator.

not bad at all !

This was my first foray into Lynda La Plante's writing and I was very impressed ... the plot kept moving along at a breathtaking pace and her slant on male v female in the top job was refreshingly realistic... sadly !!
I much enjoyed the book, Racel Atkins narration was superb, and I look forward to listening to the next in the series. Thank you all round !
