About this listen

A hysterical and sometimes tragic portrayal of a doctor’s interactions with a captivating array of patients contrasted against the frustrations and humdrum of being a junior doctor in the National Health Service.

From being the savior of a man’s anus to being mistaken for the milkman, Tom describes the complexity and absurdity of today’s medical practice with humor and aplomb. Tom is a junior doctor working in the National Health Service. Tom Parsons is a pseudonym.

I have to say, I resonated with every part of this book. Painstakingly honest and written in a tone that only medical professionals or "shop floor" NHS staff can feel deep within their bones! Thankyou, Doctor!

A tone that NHS staff can feel in their bones!

A great listen. Highly recommended. Will have you laugh and sometimes cry. Very insightful.

Funny and a real insight

Liked the book from end to end but the last bit brought it home with a bang, one overpowering, over promoted person trying to tick boxes kills but walks away. Doctors can and do live a good life when at the top of the tree, but it's not those we see day to day, it's folk like this that will save your life.

1st class but worrying

I liked most of it. There were some difficult parts involving loss.
A few words were pronounced unusually, but the main thing I felt was sadness that Tom feels responsible for the death of the last patient.
if you read this Tom, please watch some mentour pilot videos and understand the swiss cheese model. You made a decision under unnecessary pressure which cost a life but the pressure was not your fault.
I really hope you didn't get stuck off for this

The content of this book was great, but it is read so fast that I struggled to keep up.
