A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down

This is the first book in the series and the first one I have listened to but it won't be the last as I am ready to start book two after writing this review. I liked the characters especially the feisty Granma and I hope she gets to play a bigger part in the series as I like the idea of a elderly tv detective officinardo solving the crime. Don't get me wrong I did like the main character who is a reporter but the grandma caught my imagination.
Deanna is a reporter of fluffy News items and longs to be like her favourite tv detective and report on real crimes. That is until she attends the engagement party for her friend. With all the family fireworks flying it is no surprise when the night ends in tragedy and a body is discovered. With none of the party guest able to proved alibi's the suspect pool looks large but that doesn't stop the police focusing in on Deanna's friend, leaving her no choice but to investigate before her friend is arrested for a crime that there is no way she committed.
The narrator is good and easy to listen to.

Cozy mystery

Format: audiobook
Narrator- not for me, I couldn’t get on with this narrators voice.
This is a very quick read/listen, it’s a nice enough story but a reporter that only writes fluff pieces solves the crime in a day whereas the seasoned detective’s only question was ‘where were you during the murder’ ?
I know it’s a cosy mystery but I think it needs padding out a little more, I found while listening to it I would get distracted with other things but I didn’t miss anything important in the story.
Not quite interesting enough to keep my full attention but a nice little coffee break read that you don’t have to think too hard about.

Good- narration so so

A good entertaining mystery. I enjoyed the main characters and I am looking forward to reading the next book to see how the relationships develop. The narration was disappointing as it sounds more like it is being read out loud rather than being performed. The story was short enough for me to bear with it but I wouldn't want to listen to anything longer when it is narrated like this.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reading copy.

My Honest Review

regardless of the length of this book I enjoyed it a lot, the author has a way of helping you understand the characters in few words and situations and then the action of the book begins, its not rushed but still intriguing until the end

Prescription to Die For (Deanna Devlin, Desert Detective Cozy Mystery #1) was a good read by Bridget Bowman. Desert Palms is an Arizona tourist town. awful narrator

Interesting cozy mystery but couldn't tolerate the narrator.
Narrator voice was great for other characters, but for main character and narrative I found it soprano nasal and very irritating even though the interpretations were spot on.

A Fun Cozy Mystery

This is book two in the series but a great cozy mystery as a stand alone. Deanna is certain her friend is innocent of murder. She feels she needs to investigate, and Grandma Gwen wants her too. Grandma Gwen is funny with her jokes. At the engagement party and it turns into murder.. She has so many people to investigate. The characters are believable and likable. Amazing how many ride people that are innocent. You have a handsome detective which adds to the story. Rebecca Hanson is the Narrator of the book and is able to capture your interest and pull you to the end. This is a great book for to use as a family night, or for your teens or a slumber party. This book is clean, no gore or foul language or sex. I reccommend this book.

Pharmacy Warfare

When the children of two rival pharmacists plan to marry, one ends up murdered. Throw in an ex, a new trophy wife, a mama's boy, and a reporter looking for a story and you've got a great little cozy. A handsome detective shadows Ms. Devlin as she uncovers the killer. I was gifted this from the author.
