Critic reviews

"It's not often a crime novel offers such a smorgasbord of oddball elements, including autopsy advice, methods of combating tree blight, the use of spiders in sadomasochist torture and couples covering the sexual and psychological waterfronts." ( Publishers Weekly)

I should have given up at blowfly when out of nowhere the books are now read in the third person, it totally threw me and has carried on with trace and predator. The stories are now so repetitive and boring, how many times can a killer be obsessed with a medical examiner or her niece it's so implausible this deep into a series that it's bordering on laughable. Lorelei king is a fantastic narrator with that there is no issue at all. The books as always are expertly researched however for a character driven series I just don't care about any of the characters anymore and scarpetta herself becomes less likeable with every book. Her relationship with Benton is mundane and tiresome. There are 10 more years of books after this one and I don't think I can carry on listening to essentially the same story in different carnations over and over again

Bored of the series now

...I love Cornwell's books. I usually like Lorelei King's narrations, even when she mispronounces simple words (modem) but King attempting to do a South African accent (Afrikaans) was insulting. It was cross between English, Australian and something made up.

I know this is an older story....
