Summary

Clear, concise, and penetrating, Practical Religion contains a series of writings about the daily duties, dangers, experiences, and privileges of all who profess and call themselves true Christians. Ryle explains that a "practical religion" is not a religion of works, but rather one in which those who are saved can put their faith into practice.

Sound Advice

What did you like most about Practical Religion?

Straightforward call to self examination.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Practical Religion?

Discovering that the narrator wasn't following the text but modernizing it, no doubt for reasons of relevance.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Well, it's not a novel so it's not about individual scenes but clarity of delivery, and for this top marks, it's good enough to make me overlook the textual departures. Although substituting some other version for the KJV is distinctly annoying. However, along with Ryle's Holiness this is just excellent for exposing the deceit of the heart.

Serious, Sombre and Soul Searching

This book needs to be listened to many times. It cannot be taken lightly. It covers many aspects of Christianity that you may not have thought about and therefore need to seriously consider.

You may or may not agree with everything discussed here, but you cannot dismiss it all either. If you are serious about the practical practice of religion (Christianity), then you need to study this carefully. Possibly in a group or with at least one theologically minded person. (Pastor, Minister, Lay-preacher, Priest)!

If you are struggling with your Christianity, you may definitely need to have someone listen to this with you, so take advantage of the 'share' option.

Either way, you will learn a great deal. This is money well spent. Commit to it - it's lengthy but worth it - and on your second pass, I'm certain that you will have made lifelong, hopefully eternal, decisions.

Enjoy.
