Professor Matt Hunter is an atheist ex-minister and expert on religion, brought in by the police to advise on cases where there is a supernatural overtone. When they receive a report of strange whispers behind a blood-soaked door, they are baffled to discover a man, who will only speak in whispers under his breath, with the name Baal-barith tattooed on his chest.

They have no choice but to call in Matt Hunter. Matt knows that Baal-barith is an ancient Canaanite demon and was known as the spirit of 'blasphemy and murder'. But as more 'demons' appear around the city, the police and Matt must work quickly to find out what is behind this extraordinary situation.

Good story, the premise is great and the author has done his research. Really good summary at the end

Really like the whole story and Mat Hunter is a great lead for the story

In Possessed, Peter Laws takes his readers by the hand and leads them into a dark labyrinth constructed of an original blend of murder and exorcism, media and demons, religion and psychology. His characters are so real, I tried to take them by the hand and pull them out again!
A thought provoking blend of crime and horror, and an utterly compelling read/listen. I loved it!

Darkly Disturbing and Gruesomely Gripping

I bought this after hearing the author on the Scarred For Life podcast.
It’s a gripping story, entertaining though very far fetched. The hero and his family are quite sympathetic characters and I’ll probably try another from this series.

Decent
