Find the Right Therapy - FANTASTIC

I highly recommend this book to students. It helps to identify a few modalities and then goes deeper into them using examples and case studies! At first I found the narrators voice a bit difficult as she stumbled over a few words. She seemed to settle down after a while and I really engaged with her, her passion and interest in the book was almost tangible and made me feel comfortable (like having an educational conversation with a friend). Love, love, loved it! Planning on listening to it again. The book also gave me insight on how I can support my clients more by using different techniques as they present their current situations. I will definitely refer this book to my colleagues.

Informative and interesting!

I very much enjoyed listening to this audio book. It reads like a course describing the major approaches that psychotherapists take to helping people with mental health struggles. The author is an award-winning teacher and has a warm and engaging manner as she explains the ways that different flavors of psychotherapy work. She uses relatable examples, including a running example from a leading documentary film series (the "Up Series") that follows the progress of a British man from childhood through middle age. This book will be especially useful to people who are considering a career in psychotherapy, or related fields, as it explains the inner workings of this approach to emotional and behavioral challenges.

Excellent and very helpful

Whether you are thinking about therapy for a family member, student our for yourself, you will find this series a great help. Dr. Shiner has a knack for objectively exploring the range of options and explaining their techniques and benefits. She's a great teacher who obviously cares not just about the science but about how psychotherapy can make a positive impact on real lives.
