Summary

After a tip from a reporter, Eve Dallas finds the body of a young woman in a Delancey Street dumpster. Just hours before, the news station had mysteriously received a portfolio of professional portraits of the woman. The photos seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary for any pretty young woman starting a modeling career. Except that she wasn't a model. And that these photos were taken after she had been murdered. Now Dallas is on the trail of a killer who's a perfectionist and an artist. He carefully observes and records his victim's every move. And he has a mission: to own every beautiful young woman's innocence, to capture her youth and vitality - in one fateful shot....

Absolutely beautiful

If you could sum up Portrait in Death in three words, what would they be?

Moving, Tender, Beautiful

What was one of the most memorable moments of Portrait in Death?

When Eve went to Roarke. I've listened to that chapter many times since I finished the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Two parts. When Roarke finally tells Eve about his Mother and when she goes to him in Ireland.

Any additional comments?

This book focuses on Roarke and his family. It's beautiful. Definitely one of the books I will relisten to and one of my favourites so far.

Shock revelation - I am not alone

What made the experience of listening to Portrait in Death the most enjoyable?

Suffice to say - this book fills in many of the gaps the readers have wanted to know. As ever there is a murder to solve and Eve does her cop thing well in her usual style but for once the spotlight is on Roarke - a welcome change. We are given time to be with him on his own in Ireland, to glimpse into his early life and evetually to meet his family.

What did you like best about this story?

We see more of the enigmatic Roarke who finally is revealed as all too human. Although still strong, reliable, rich and clever we now see that he is not totally in control espcially of his feelings. We find out more about his life in Ireland, the reasons behind his loneliness and eventually he discovers he is not alone.

What about Susan Ericksen’s performance did you like?

I enjoy the characters she creates with her voice - especially the delightfully naive Peabody. She even manages to create Roarke's Irish accent in the deep sexy way J D Robb has written it

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Discover the secrets that make the enigma that is Roarke

Any additional comments?

Although there are a great many books in the In Death series by J D Robb this is probably one of the most insightful
