Summary

Harley

What happens when the most successful boy band on the planet breaks up? How about 20,000 fans screaming my name. But the price of fame comes with an increased risk to my safety. I've been avoiding the dreaded B word for as long as I can, but after a close call with a rambunctious fan, I can't do it anymore. It's time to give in. I need to hire a full-time bodyguard. And when he shows up, he not only screams badass, he's another B word I try to stay away from: boyfriend material.

Brix

Protecting people is not what my company usually does, but the boss knows I need money, and the pop star is offering an insane amount to live with him and make sure no more crazy fans break into his house. I'm doing it for the money and nothing else. He may be the prettiest man I've ever seen, and I may feel sorry for the celebrity life he's been forced into since he was a teenager, but that doesn't mean anything. Just because he fascinates me, that doesn't mean I like him. It doesn't.

Professionalism. I'm gonna live it. Breathe it. Enforce it... Mostly.

Contains mature themes.

Better than anticipated!

Loose spin-off of Fake Boyfriend series. Book 5 of boyfriend series required to understand the link between the two series. Loose spin-off because there is only a brief overlap between a couple of characters but the MC in Popstar is linked to one of the MC in book 5, Hat Trick.

I was hesitant in listening to this one because I thought it was going to be too predictably like every other bodyguard/star book but I am pleasantly happy with the purchase. I even had times that I couldn't sit still with the anticipation of what comes next.

I wish they would have kept with the dual narration that they used for the Fake Boyfriend series of Alexander Cendese and Iggy Toma but Iggy did not disappoint!

Can't wait for next one in this series to come out on audio. Until then I am going to go back and re-listen to the Fake Boyfriend series.

I laughed the whole way through

listened to this all in one sitting! A combination of my apparent love for Eden Finley and Iggy Toma. The narration is fantastic and the plot was just interesting enough without causing me any unnecessary suffering on behalf of the characters.

Soooo good. I’m such a big fan of Eden Finley’s work I’m never disappointed. Iggy narration is out of this world. He just gets you immersed in the read.

Really enjoyed this new Audible from Eden Finley.

The story flowed great, kept me interested and still had all the swoon I love.

I really enjoyed this book

The only criticism I have (and it's a very small one) is that Ms. Finley could have made this book a little shorter. It dragged in places but like I said, overall it was a great book and I'm glad I stuck with it. I can't wait to read second book!

As always, Iggy Toma did a phenomenal job!

Chill storytime with Iggy Toma 😃

Pretty relaxed listen but I really enjoyed it. Certainly one I plan on listening to again when I need to chill. The characters were fun and I like how the whole story was composed. Not super exciting, more like something pleasant to listen to on a laid back Saturday afternoon. I also just love Iggy Toma's voice. Looking forward to hearing more in this series. 😁

Opted for the obvious when other groundwork was in place

When it comes to series, there seem to be two options. One is to focus on one couple over the course of the how ever many books, or there is a created world - whether geographically or professional, that allows each book to focus on a different couple. The issue I have with the latter format in MM romance is that it requires that this town or business have a large number of gay men relative to the overall population. That is the case here.

The premise of a bodyguard and their charge fall for each other isn’t new. It usually isn’t handled all that well. This story had some promise. And, had Finley chosen to write two or three books following Harley and Bricks, the was an opportunity to tell a fuller, more compelling story. That did not happen. Instead, a very formulaic approach was taken where situations are set up, and resolved in the most perfunctory manner. There is zero challenge.

Toma’s narration helps the story, but there a couple of times the way Iggy responds or reacts that I suspect someone in production had a hand in the odd vocal choices.

My mind wandered, it was pretty plain even Iggy couldn’t help me.

Good chemistry

Iggy Toma does great narration per usual. The story itself, while being a common pairing (body guard/famous person), the story has super natural energy and good cast a characters. I’ll definitely listen to it again.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK

This mind numbing puss of a story is so predictable yet the author cannot even tell a good story with the material presented. The ending is just a slap in the face to the genre and is ironically homophobic. The narrator's dull uninspired reading puts you into the edge of deep sleep. This book started off well but fizzled into a dud, I have removed the sequels from my wish list.
