A decomposing body...a severed head in a closet...a macabre meeting with "Mother" - mystery writer Lorinda Lucas tosses yet another paperback in the trash, appalled at the gruesome direction of today's crime fiction. She's even more disturbed at the half-starved state of Roscoe, the cat next door. Before Lorinda left for her latest book tour, Roscoe was as plump and pampered as her own two felines, Had-I and But-Known.

It only takes a modicum of sleuthing to find out that in Lorinda's absence Roscoe's owner, Macho Magee, has acquired a new girlfriend - a harridan who has put the gentle Macho and his pet on a strict diet. And that's only the first disturbing news in Brimful Coffers, the once - quiet village that now includes a writer's colony. Lorinda soon discovers that a hit-and-run has ended a child's life, professional jealousy has taken a deadly twist, and murder is just around the catty-corner....

as a cat lover ithought I might enjoy this title but I found the dialogue a little boring after a while and the story so contrived and ageist that i decided i wasn't really enjoying the tape. But ìI finished it and considered the whole thing and came to the conclusion it just wasn't to my liking but there is nothing wrong with that. it's my taste!!

a little too cosy

Love the way poor Rosco got his revenge on the awful Cressie, by scratching her.

Unless you are really mad about cats, and totally starved of something to read about them, I cannot recommend this book. There is little or no storyline and the humans are entirely made of painted cardboard, with some violent streaks. The fact that the humans are presented as writers is an insult to authors and readers alike. Even the cats seem reluctant to participate. They are only there for the food.

Not a pleasure to listen to.

I wonder who might like this. Not for me. In fact I found it so bad that I felt guilty listening to it, thinking that it was an insupportable squandering of time.

Awful …… at least not for me.
