Ask the great poker players how they'd play a hand and the answer is always "it depends." That answer can be infuriating. But guess what? It really does depend. The key to becoming a great poker player is in knowing what it depends on. At last there's a book that gives you that answer. Poker is a game of so many variables; table position, flop texture, the number of players in a hand, the personalities of your opponents, and so much more.

Volume 2 builds on this base and examines the highly complex issue of how to handle the different stages of a tournament. Understanding when to "change gears" is a highly developed skill that requires a great deal of study and experience.

Dont buy this.....
unless you literally want to learn the rules to different forms of poker, this book is a waste of time. There is almost no strategy, just Phil rambling on about hands he's won and hands that he's busted out of tournament with.
For stratagy, you're better of getting Annie Duke and John Vorhaus' book 'decide to play great poker'.

Bullets !
i enjoyed this so book so much, mostly because it was read by phil. his strategys are solid and has helped me improve my game no end, he also discusses the etiquette in poker, of which i knew very little about. the duration of the book isn't that long but i have re read it twice, to take it all in you will need to read it several times. well worth it, would like more poker books on audible. !

I was left wanting more
This is my first review so hope it comes out ok .. and please forgive the spelling and grammar as I read books I don't compose or write to any great degree of skill.
I have been playing poker for some 35 years now and have played every where from the kitchen table, and in dark back rooms of bars, to Casinos , and online.
So I figure I know the game well enough to comment on this book somewhat.
I am a big fan.... ( much to the chagrin of my poker buddies ) of Phil Hellmuth and his style of play.
I found this book to be easy to follow and interesting from the standpoint of that, I am a fan of phils and interested in how he approaches the game .
With that said , I found the theory and strategies he relayed in the book to be very basic and nothing new to an experianced player and was geared to the novice player.
So if you are an experianced player and not a fan of phils I would pass .. But if you are new to the game and looking to learn some basic strategies and plays then this is a good choice for you.

Boring.. nothing new here.
What would have made Play Poker Like the Pros better?
To give insights and tips that one can't find by just doing a quick search on the web.
What was most disappointing about Phil Hellmuth’s story?
It just drones on and on and doesn't hold your interest. I almost returned this book but did n't in fairness to Audible given the reasonable price of it.
What didn’t you like about Phil Hellmuth’s performance?
Same as the last question. It just drones on and on and doesn't hold your interest. The tips Phil gives can be found by reading any poker related site on the web. Nothing new to learn here.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No redeeming qualities at all so far as I'm concerned.
Any additional comments?
Look elsewhere for Poker playting tips. Phil Hellmuth isn't the answer. You'll get better value on Poker Sites that have player forums and it won't cost you a cent or a credit.
